Sotos was pretty cool.  When I was 20 and people were supposed to be transgressive and shit.  Now it doesn't seem much deeper that alll that gross-out japanese  horror stuff.  And alot of his writing is equivalent to watching some fat hairy guy rub one out in front of his computer on a truly unnecessary web cam.  Now I just think it's sad that for some people, the only thing they think they have to offer society are case studies of thier various paraphilias.  Gross.

interesting use of the "fat hairy web cam dude"...have you read selfish little or show adult? sotos is aware of what he has become.

first. adam parfrey didn't rerelease the TA collection. or hasn't yet.

second. the name is a nod to a sotos collection. jim goad could have named it total abuse. the collection housed the pure zines as well as the parasite zines and tool. the nod is to the "early" sotos material. which i feel is much more simplistic (to put it lightly) in comparison to sotos' later and present work.

the pure zines were filthy, simple and were about specific "tastes". barbarism, rape, torture, violence all held on a pedestal.

hardcore contains many of these same qualities in a certain sense....

so three years ago when we started total abuse we wanted to play hardcore that was simple and harsh...at the time i was just getting into sotos and i felt it worked.

i also feel pure was not about trying to just be "shocking", it was much more than that. but if we want to get into a sotos' argument that's another deal all together.
