New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Termbo Class of 2010
« on: December 22, 2010, 10:46:49 AM »
Inspired by SSR's year end re-cap, I encourage all labels posting on TB to re-cap their year & drop some hints regarding future releases.  It would be cool to see what music folks on here were releasing in the dime.

2010 was a good year for us.  We got picked up by Revolver & we got a friend in the US doing our mailings for us.  Accordingly, we're seeing our stuff make it around the USA like never before.  It's unfortunate to see such a slow down in the EU, and I'm wondering how other labels are dealing.

Below are the 2010 releases from Psychic Handshake Recordings out of Montreal, QC, Canada.  These titles are available from us, Revolver/Midheaven, Florida's Dying, Goner, All-day, Indian Girl in Oz, Puke n Vomit, and a bunch of other distros:

PSY-004/NV-001 - Dead Wife - DWSYHF 7" ("DWSYHF" & "TXT Me" b/w "Gentleman Rapist")

"No fucking around raaagggggeerrr! Everything I have a boner for all packed into seven inches.  Shit recordings, screaming grrl vocals, herky-jerky stops and starts, radical feminism, desperate speeds, and just enough sludge.  Its like RED AUNTS being FLIPPER playing hardcore.  Such fucking perfection.  Get it now!!!!!" -- Maximum RocknRoll

Co-release with No Vacation. 500 copies on black; down to last 20 or so.

PSY-005 - Tonstartssbandht - Midnite Cobras 7" ("Midnite Cobras" & "I'm a Welsh Souper" b/w "Electric Dragon Sword")

"This band, one that has committed moniker suicide, transforms early Comets on Fire into what I always thought it should be anyway: Really, really loud pop. With a signature personality poking out through the blatant love of pre-Hot Tuna Ben Chasny, and a more understated resemblance to Wildildlife (an example of hemorrhaging inspiration and laminated Next-Level-Shit ID cards), Tonstartssbandht is the sort of band that reminds me why I?m in this mess." -- A. Earles, Still Single

500 copies on black; down to something like 50.

PSY-006 - Vomit Squad - Amon Ra Bless America 12" EP

"King Khan, Choyce (Red Mass), Danny Marks (Spaceshits/CPC Gangbangs) and outsider singer Rich Ritalin convene to celebrate the life of Jay Reatard, the death of restaurants, and the welcoming of a cannibal age. Bordering on hilarious, this record kicks out six tracks of wild-minded, buttoned-up garage punk, Ritalin's vocals providing the strangest touches of all. Imagine an accountant with mild manners getting in front of this train and explaining himself. It kinda rules, actually, and I hope they continue to get even more ridiculous with future releases." - D. Mosurock, Still Single

1000 copies on vomit swirl; lots left, I'm sure.

.......

2011 will hopefully be a big one for us.  In January we will release a split single with Le Face and DVA Damas.  I hadn't heard DVA till the Le Face folks told us about 'em, but they're doing a gothic, Weimar cabaret take on the Cramps that really compliments some of the best Le Face material yet.  After that, we'll be releasing a gnarly set of songs from some of our favourite provocateurs, The Outdoorsmen.  Then we'll be releasing an LP of heavy, Deep Purple-influenced Pan-Asian psychedelia by a Toronto/Montreal outfit called Yamantaka/Sonic Titan.  We have a number of things in the works to follow these three, but we'll let you know when things are confirmed.

Attention, droogs!  Brand new on Psychic Handshake Recordings, we present Vomit Squad's 12" debut EP, Amon Ra, Bless America.  Amon Ra, wha?  Yessir.  The Squad features those stalwarts of Montreal RnR, Choyce, D. Marks, A. A. Khan, and their childhood buddy, Rich Ritalin.  The EP is a mongo-masterpiece of KBD dummy punk, and evokes some sort of detention hall consortium of folks like The Gizmos, The Trend, and Suicidal Tendencies.   This one is something of a concept effort, though I'll be damned if I can fully wrap my head around what Mr. Ritalin is on about here. American foreign policy, religiosity, and y'all's proclivity for Pharaoh-worship are all grist for the mill.
