Thor's Hammer
Kinda drunkenly bought the Sundazed 2xLP Beefheart set while waiting for my Indian take-out a couple hours ago. Those sessions blew my mind when I first heard 'em but I guess the novelty's worn off. Still nice to have 'em on vinyl but I'll probably file it away for a couple years after I'm done with side 4.
When I was 16 - 19 years old I thought Beefheart was the shit, the pinnacle, the most radical music in the world, but over time he sounds more and more trad, and a little clunky.
Steve Mackay & the Radon Ensemble, though MacKay, the Stooges' sax dude comes from and is considered a free jazz background rather than bop.
BTW Dolphy's Out to Lunch is regarded as a free jazz record not a bop record, Free jazz has less to do with playing loud & wild than it does freeing the playing from traditional jazz structures.
I'm into Bop mostly, the Free Jazz genre is a little too much for me.
owlies!!! i love how the one in the back looks like it's talking.
I maintain there is nothing cuter than a yawning owl:
all of those owls are terrifying
Just to complete the punchline:
1 When The Night Falls/I'm Rowed Out (Mercury MF 881) 1965
2 The Immediate Pleasure/My Degeneration (Mercury MF 897) 1966
3 Man With Money/You're Too Much (Mercury MF 910) 1966
4 Good Day Sunshine/Please Don't Cry (Mercury MF 934) 1966
I think the first three were all bootlegged a few years ago.
no obnoxious smoky or chemical flavors, just a clean refreshing potato vodka with delicious savory bacon flavor
