those sounds pretty much created a whole genre of the best hip hop ever.

1984.  Had it for years and only now getting around to reading it.  Why?  Because my "to-read"-pile is taller than Vern Troyer.  Glad I finally got around to it, though.  I love any sort of dystopian sci-fi shit.  In fact, aside from the obvious stuff like Phil Dick, Brave New World, We, etc., anybody got any recommendations?

Mockingbird - Walter Tevis (the man who fell to earth is great too)
Shadrach in the Furnace- Robert Silverberg
The Forever War- Joe Haldeman

Music Shit / Re: Bands That Were Pretty Good Despite Bad Drummers

Mo Tucker is my favorite drummer ever.

tru dat.

has any one mentioned the Misfits?

bad drumming, bad recordings, bad guitar, bad bass... all at times.

and bad recordings, bad mastering.

i still love them for these reasons, but ?

it sounds the most like "office of hearts" from Under the bushes under the stars.

So who can tell me which Guided By Voices song sounds just like this?  I'm also always trying to figure out which GBV song is the doppelganger of Accident's "Blood Splattered With Guitars".  I'm not saying Bob Pollard ripped off either of these songs, but I guess when you write 1000s of songs, a few will sound just like something that already exists.

not to start of another wave of  hate but you should check out the Madison Zoo if you're ever around.

It's free and makes the New Zoo look like a joke.

Robert Silverberg?

Dying Inside, The Second Trip, Man in the Maze, Shadrach in the Furnace and
Up the Line are all great.

kinda PKD, but he has his own thing going on too.

Richard Yates' Revolution Road is arguably the greatest American suburban novel. Devastating emotional shit if you're trapped behind a lawn, a mortgage, and depreciating expectations

shit, it's  just devastating, nevermind the rest of those qualifiers (though i can see
where they come into play in a big way).

his short stories have the same quality.
