maybe not as much for his awesome acoustic playing, but the man had some huge electric guitar sounds. i really dig some of the more the freak out epileptic solos.

hey hey, my my of off Rust Never Sleeps is pretty good example of how he wires up shit tons of really  low wattage 50's-60's tube amps in tandem and cranks em up  till they perform beyond what they should be capable of  doing.

the way the distortion breaks, hot damn, good stuff.

though there weren't necessarily record store day related, today i got the new Plexi-3 LP, Hussy 7" and finally found a copy of the Beach Boys "Rarities" (1983) LP  for super cheap.

pet sounds is great. If you don't like it that's fine, each to there own.  but the whole idea of hating  pet sounds while liking earlier Beach Boys sounds kinda reactionary to me.

given, i'd rather listen to Friends, Wild Honey, 20/20, Sunflower and Love You.

and yeah, more people should check out  the Beach Boy's  "Love You"  (1977) it's all  synths, minimalist drumming and huge harmonies. amazing.

i agree 100% about beyond the valley of the dolls, probably my fave movie of all time.

i lent it to my  fiance years ago before we got together and she was weirded out by it, like there was some sort of hidden meaning. her boyfriend at the time hated it, shows how much he knew.
she loves it as much as i do now.

has anyone mention Carnival of Souls? that's another one.

10$ for a hit of acid is insane. in madison it used to be 3 or 4, but i haven't touched the stuff in years so i have no idea of the going rate.

i could probably watch every day. it just gets better every time for me.  when i think i have the whole thing memorized,  i forget about a minor scene, and it's like a new present to be opened.

and the bits i know by heart, keep getting more and more hilarious.
