I will say this: The art on Oh Sees records is uniformly terrible. Are those Dwyer's drawings? Regardless, I don't think I like the way a single one of their records look.

nah

Great band. One of the only good bands to ever come out of Fort Worth, with the exception of a lot of the bands on the Fort Worth Teen Scene comps.

Did you ever see Pink & Brown?

sigh... yes, i did. but i saw so many bands around the same time who were much more memorable. the early aughts was a golden age for noise rock. the bar was set high by the likes of lightning bolt, hella, orthrelm, the locust, usaisamonster, noxagt, black dice, sightings, necronomitron, vaz, phantom limbs, chromatics, melt-banana, etc. as well as that last wave of estrus bands (many of whom may not have been good on record but destroyed live): fatal flying guilloteens, the cherry valence, federation x, fireballs of freedom, immortal lee county killers (believe or not, they played their asses off for me and 3 other people and it was amazing. no joke.) and local heavies like yowie and the conformists.

i saw all these bands play in st. louis. pink & brown too. i remember them. they weren't bad. at the time i wrote them off as a second rate lighting bolt. and it still seems that way looking back. thee oh sees are obviously a better band. and i kind of agree with you about bands being worse today. i didn't feel that was 5 years ago. maybe i just need to flee california.

How was Yowie live? I used to be pretty into those guys, admittedly.

I love Thee Oh Sees. Every show I've seen them at and every record they've put out thus far has been fantastic (with the exception of maybe Dog Poison, I can't get into that one). I love OCS and Coachwhips as well. I used to like Pink and Brown back when I listened to too much Lightning Bolt, but now it's kinda obnoxious.

The Oh See's are "fun" live if you're drunk and you're an idiot.  They sound terrible.  The girl is a babe but that's all they got going for 'em.

She's a babe?

Yes.
