Any leads on the release for public consumption of the Doug Sahm Genuine Texas Cosmic Groove documentary?  I'm dying to see this thing.

Music Shit / A good Mick bio?
« on: April 04, 2017, 01:20:33 PM »
I've read a boatload of Rolling Stones biographies, and a buttload of Keith biographies, but I've never read a Mick biography.  Can anyone point me in the direction of a solid Mick biography?

My Bloody Valentine.  I don't like them, but I'm told they're super.  So when I see them listed as an influence I run to the nearest Dinosaur Jr. record.

Just saw Gimme Danger, on the whole pretty disappointing. Nothing new or interesting really, seemed like a PBS special on them more than anything else.

Funny, I saw it last week and had a religious experience.  I've read all the books, I've seen all the previous docs, etc....but this one touched me. I'd never heard the Mo Howard story.  I've never heard their songs played that loud in surround sound.  The Penetration(?) outtake and We Will Fall specifically gave me goose bumps. Never heard the story of just how the reunion came about what with the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack.  I loved how it was broken up btwn the three cities.  And...and...it was nice to see some stuff about the other post Stooges projects.

Here's an interview I did with GG's mom many, many moons ago.

I loved 99% of what GG released, but Rowdy Beer Drinkin' Night, Liquor Slicked Highway, Laying Up With Linda, and When I Die aren't just some of HIS best songs, I believe them to be some of the best songs in my entire record collection.

I've converted many doubters/haters to GG with Rowdy Beer Drinkin' Night.  "This is GG Allin?"

I too loved The Damned documentary.  I loved where it went.  I almost shut it off though after the first 20 minutes due to its paint by numbers first wave of punk/London was in bad shape/nobody had ever seen anything like this before shtick.

So let me get this straight....organized religion, and greedy businessmen are bad?  Thanks God Bullies!

Hey College, Mike Hard isn't try to educate anybody. Spoilsports like you probably complain about The Mentors for being obsessed with sex. Get out of the pit.

Me love Mentors.  Constantly Jacking!

Went to an AmRep festival at The Beowulf back in 91ish and was blown away by The Cows.  Went out and bought any vinyl I could get my hands on.  It all sucked compared to the show.

Loved The Color Of Noise documentary.  Hell of a journey.  Amazing how much Helmet stood out both sonically as well as songwriting.

Music Shit / Heavy Metal Kids?

Thanks to the good people over at Dangerous Minds, today I've discovered Heavy Metal Kids.  I was totally blown  What the deal with these unfortunately dressed, yet genius song writers?!

I was blown away by this tune...Pre-dates Blitz' sickeningly toe tapping New Age by 9 years.
