Acid needs to be brought back? It's pretty alive in the NW. I haven't seen any in Brooklyn but I assume it's just because I haven't been here long enough.

Three years ago for my birthday my friends and I decorated my house and had a Merry Pranksters inspired acid test complete with electric kool aid. Oh those halcyon days...

Since I moved to Brooklyn I've been going to 2-4 a week. Don't want to think about how many bands I've seen this year, I don't like math.

Sadly they moved the bins. It's now in Sellwood instead of nearby the Acrop.

You need to check out the bins, which is what Goodwill calls its "outlet" store. It's in SE, off of 17th a few blocks south of Tacoma. It's a big warehouse where everything is sold by the pound rather than by the item. It's insane, there are people who make a living off of hanging out at the bins finding great stuff that's ended up there by the luck of the universe and reselling it on ebay or Buffalo exchange. There's also one in Hillsboro that is supposedly less picked over than the one in Portland but I never made it out there. You can find furniture there.

Also Portland craigslist is amazing if you have a car. Also try Portland freecycle. Same thing as free craigslist except it's own website and community.

Some coffee shops actually use leftover hot coffee as their iced coffee. And it takes awful.

For pizza I would go with Hammy's which is pretty good and they also deliver until 4AM which is awesome!

Hammy's is great. I recommend the Heart Attack.

Has anyone tried the Stumptown coffee that is now available at several coffee shops in Brooklyn? Comments? Critiques?

It's my favorite coffee in the world. I got hooked on it in Portland. Although if you're the kind of person who puts cream in your coffee you're defeating the whole point of it. Luckily for me Second Stop, on Lorimer just south of Metropolitan, has stumptown and is down the street from my place. They also have the best iced coffee I've ever had. Apparently they brew it for like 12 hours overnight.

So I started listing bars and I ended up with damn near a list of every bar in Portland I've been to more than once or twice.

What kind of bar do you want? I like the Matador on W Burnside and 19th or so. They used to have $5 pitchers of PBR but they might be up to a whole $6 now. If you're in or around SE the Clinton St. Pub was always a favorite hangout for me and my friends. Sapphire hotel on SE Hawthorne around 45th has a happy hour with $1 PBR tall boys. On SE Belmont Aalto Lounge is good if you're looking for cocktails. The Vern on Belmont is a great punk dive.  The Hawthorne Hideaway is another dive-ish place with free pool and a good happy hour.

Someone already mentioned the Horse Brass but it's a good spot if you want to try out NW microbrews or get fish & chips.

Also worth checking out: My Father's Place on Grand. And East End further north on Grand. East End also has some decent shows. In that same area Slow Bar has one of the best burgers in town.

I know you asked for Mexican and falafel but there's good reason it's not obvious where to find good Mexican or good falafel, there just isn't a lot of either in Portland. My favorite Mexican food in Portland was a cart on SE Powell next to Advantage Auto and Papa John's.

My other favorite cart in Portland is Taste of India downtown just south of Burnside on like 4th or 5th. Make sure if you check out that place you go to Taste of India not the New Taste of India. I've never actually been to the new taste but my friends all say it blows. If you're into dim sum check out Wong's King around 82nd & Division, it's amazing.
