Did anyone of you see the Flat Duo Jets in their prime?

Yes when they toured w/ the  cramps.  fuckin awesome.

They seem a little forgotten so many of the gayrage bands of the past bunch a years seem like watered down versions of them.

Hey anyone know if the rumour of Ultravox (Jon Foxx singing) playing is true?

Those first three records are so awesome.  The other rumor is Magazine which could be good but Jon McGeouch is dead so who knows.

Cigarettes?? is it a different band from the UK punk one? I don't see the slightest Sparks comparison there. Great band though

Jet totally sounds Sparks influenced to me.  Aside from the fact that some of the guys were in the band at one point.

Radio Stars is another.

Jet and the Radio Stars are actually the same band they just changed their name (and sound).  They also are pretty much John's Children w/out Marc Bolan.  There is a double CD of their stuff out . The good Jet stuff is fantastic but I like the Radio Stars better they were a lot more consistent. I don't really think either sounds much like sparks.

I think all those bands listed had guys that were in the Sparks backing band at one time or another. I'd love to see a comp of all the bands sparks sidemen went on to.

I think this is the first real reunion.  The Teengenerate at Dot Dash had a different bassist and drummer.

Two totally different bands with nothing in common but their name.

You might as well argue about Hasil Adkins vs. Chet Atkins

yeah i guess you guys are right on the dates. I always associated them as the next wave cuz I just remember seeing them in 85 on the East Coast when all the bands were going metal and doing that guitar shredding shit they did.  They were more of a novelty band to me.

"No Zero Boys OR Toxic Reasons????  No JFA?  No Suicidal Tendencies?  No C.O.C.?  It's a great track listing overall but I think these bands were definitely big enough to have been included."

Suicidal Tendencies were late comers so I don't think they really fit the time period. That first record is 1985 which is when Hardcore started really turning to shit with all the metal crossover crap. I think JFA is in the same boat.

I've got the green bootleg but I bought it in Copenhagen. I've never seen even a bootleg here.  I know a guy that has the 2nd record original pressing. (the record is actually pretty good) Nothing could be as good as the first one but its not as bad as people tell you.

Yeah unfortunately that version of the Real Kids doesn't exist anymore. they were always hit or miss depending on the show but the B-face version was really great when they played around Boston
