Reatard / Re: jay reatard dead
« on: January 14, 2010, 05:16:20 PM »
jay was always nice to me, even when i was snarky to him cuz i'd think of him (and still do) as a snotty 19-year-old. i only ever witnessed his volatile side on stage. i'm really sorry to hear he's gone, and my heart goes out to everyone who loved him.

i'll be doing a tribute to him on my radio show tomorrow, FRI 1/15: kalx.berkeley.edu. my show's from noon-3pm, the tribute will be from 2-3pm California time.

Cities / Re: barcelona, sevilla, granada, madrid in feb/march

did you feel "unsafe" at all while you were there? i've been reading a lot about bcn's upswing in crime (and apparently madrid has bcn beat, which is just great), but surely it can't have changed that much in 5 years. the only time i was nervous was strolling through the barri xines at 9pm with a female friend.

I was just there in November. Stayed in the Barri Gotic. Get the Arroz Negro. It is a paella cooked in squid ink. It is a Catalan specialty. Lots of good bars and stuff around there and on the other side of La Rambla.

got any specific places? that whole area has a zillion bars/restaurants. and are those record stores still on/around calle taller in raval?

probably too early to ask if there are any shows going on in madrid in early march, but what the hell. anything? looks like the zeros are touring spain this month....

we're also gonna be in barcelona, sevilla, and granada in late feb, early march. i don't expect much in sevilla, but the other three have to have something going on, right? haven't been to bcn in a few years, and have never been to the other three cities. i should probably start a new thread...

Last nite was a blast...til' the car I borrowed got broken into.
Wifes' Goner bag, phone & keys snatched. Chased the guy down and got a bunch of shit back. Caught him diggin' as we approached the car. Fuckin' lame.

Golden Boys rule.
Wish I coulda' seen Killers Kiss & most of Black Time.
Police shenanigans took up the time.

Necessary Evils reminded me what garage punk SHOULD sound like.
Fuck. I almost forgot. I wish I was in better spirits while watchin' them.
Any one sees a Black Goner bag floating down the street, don't give it to Eric O...give it to me!

where were you parked?

Got gas $$ and will buy you a drink!

These guys are still on tour (!) and are returning to San Francisco next week Wed and Thurs. I did a goofy interview with them back in September and am airing it at around 4pm PST today on KALX.berkeley.edu.

I posted some photos, too: pix.jetlagrnr.com/davila666.html

Blah.
