With special guest MC Little Steven! You read us like a book user 'frankie teardrop'.

You're right, Black Lips are a much better band.

I don't see why everyone lumps all the 80s garage revival style stuff in with shit like The Fuzztones.

Alright, so we've lined up our first opener for the Montreal show:

All the way from Atlanta, Georgia - it's THEE CRUCIALS!

Quote
From the moment they took the stage, Thee Crucials owned it, as members bounced around, playing off the energy already existing within the room. Of course, it helps that their music is infectiously good, with songs like Gorgon Go Home standing out in particular, With a combination of anthemic melodies, sing along choruses, and a particularly insistent organ, Thee Crucials move beyond a standard issue retro 60s sound and into something much looser and compelling. As if to underscore this looseness, the best parts of their live set were the moments when various band members (but most usually the lead singer and guitarist) jumped off the stage and played their way through the crowd, interacting with audience members. And when they finished, I was surprised because it seemed like their set had passed in a flash.

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: The Gories come to NYC for free!!!!

Put on a show with Question Mark last summer, but I'd love to see Mitch Ryder and Death (!).

Gories are also playing some Canadian dates, there's a thread in Upcoming Shows. East Coasters should come on up to Montreal if they want to see 'em in an intimate venue with some boss bands on the bill.

Wow! I'm surprised The Gories are playing so many shows.

Brett, yeah, didn't really get to introduce myself properly - sorry about that. I do the door for Blue Skies shows every now and then since I'm friendly with Evan and Meyer.

Nice people in those bands, but awful show. I wanted to kill myself.

I'm sure I'll see you again soon, or at The Gories (or Reigning Sound in June if you're into that). Plus we're doing Paul Collins Beat at The Cove in August.

I don't want to spread nasty rumours, but The Peelies sure as hell aren't getting press based on their music or work ethic from what I've heard.

Now here's a real band:

Some of their songs are okay. The truth is, if they weren't girls nobody would pay attention to them. They were created by the machine, not a real band. If you think they busted their asses to get that CBC/Bande A Part coverage, think again.

Hmmm, this is a little confusing because on the Ottawa Bluesfest site it says they're playing Friday July 16... the same day as the Toronto show!?

Steve, White Wires are playing at 2pm. Plenty of time for Ian and co to get changed and drive up! :)

The Montreal show is gonna have some special openers from out of town. It's gonna be pure garage/soul, to the bone!

Cabaret Mile End. New venue, used to be a comedy club called Kola Note. Nice place, fits about 500. Not too big, not too small. Just the right size for The Gories to blow the roof off the place.

Out-of-towners can purchase tickets here:

Steve?

We haven't met, but I saw your show at Friendship Cove the other month. Good stuff.

Forget the Bluesfest, get together with the Mother's Children/White Wires crew and haul ass to our Montreal show.

Aside from Lou's stupid hair and guitar, I've always thought the reunion footage was pretty good.

We made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
