I got a new laptop and the sound on it is total garbage, lots of clicks and pops and is frequently distorted, also not as loud as my old comp. It's the same when I listen on headphones so I know it's not just the speakers. Can I just buy a new soundcard that will fix this problem? How would I go about doing this?

I bought some Behringer Truth monitor speakers like a month ago and just blew one of em out from recording something with high mixer tones. Does anyone have recommendations for more durable (even if not as good sounding) monitor speakers? I'm gonna have to mix this song on something.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy a CD burner and go straight into that, but I just figured I'd check to see what everyone thinks the best way to do this is.

Is it OK to leave monitor speakers next to a reel to reel tape machine? I ask cause I've heard that the magnets in speakers erase tape over time.
