Non-Music Shit / Re: EAMES Lounge chair & ottoman....
« on: June 25, 2012, 06:11:21 PM »
I would buy a Rosewood Original.  It is worth it.  I have sold the knock-offs that I find here and there.  There is no comparison to the original chair.  If you are patient you should be able to find one for under a grand.

I ran across two early DCM's that were manufactured by Evans Plywood for $60.

This one was an ambitious effort, and I am very proud of the result. As for the pressing details;

It is 11" in diameter
It plays from the inside out to a lock groove
It is housed in a hardcover bound leatherette book style jacket, that is embossed to look like a bible
It is an edition of 275
The record centers are hand stamped
And being the brilliant business man I am, each record is being sold at a $4 loss.

Myself and the band want to do something special and make it affordable.

To buy a copy of the record go to www.limitedappealrecords .com

If you are interested in a copy of Kilslug's "God's Funeral" 7" on colored vinyl let me know.  I have a few copies from the band, and it is not listed for sale on the website.

Below is a brief note on what it took to get this record finished, from the recording process to getting the record released, as written by the band.

Kilslug went to hell and back to deliver Sins, Tricks and Lies. Don?t think that?s an exaggeration?we wish it was.

This three year project started after the band reformed after a 20 year hiatus. Kilslug have always been an oddball band from Boston so releasing an 11? record that plays backwards was the perfect oddball format for us. We entered into this project very naive. We had never seen another 11? record but never questioned why we hadn?t. Once we committed to that 11? format, our fate was sealed and the path we traveled was nothing short of turbulent.

Due to the odd record size, everything else involving the record was now custom. Simple decisions on materials used constantly changed, from the sleeve the record slips into, to the poly bags. Every single first choice had to be rethought completely. What should have taken 2 months to record and release took over 2 years ? delays with the pressing plant, finding an envelope to hold the record, artwork problems, settling on cover ideas, and being dicked around by vendors. Week after week there was problem after problem and we dealt with it with a ?fuck you, you?re not going to kill this project!? attitude.

And now that it?s finally done, although we?re very tired from this process, we are extremely proud of this record. It is a huge feat to get new material recorded from the band, and package it up and present a killer looking, unique product ? an odd sized, backwards playing record that is packaged to look like an antique bible. This is the only thing worthy of a follow up to Answer The Call. That was the record that, as kids, got us hooked on this band. Sins, Tricks and Lies is the record that keeps us as fans 20 years later.

We went through great pains to make sure this record came out just right; otherwise it would have come out 2 years ago. Nothing was half-assed on this project; it was a labor of love. We hope it shows and we hope you feel the same way we do.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Re: New Kilslug 7" - God's Funeral
« on: December 07, 2011, 05:12:59 AM »
Below is Terminal Boredom's review of this 7"s.

I have a few copies left of the colored vinyl version of this 7" if you are interested in that sort of thing.

The single is $6 plus postage.

Write me at limited.appeal@gmail.com if you are interested in one.  There are not too many left.

Kilslug "God's Funeral" 7"
Actual new material from Kilslug, two songs recorded in 2010. Who would've thought that would ever happen? "On the Rise" is glacially paced muck with an uncomfortable scale/riff, haunted by Satanic backing moans/echos which float alongside Larry Lifeless doing what he does best. You really can't beat it. "Human Sacrifice" gets pretty metal, with a heavy chunka backing chug and a death-wah lead that gives into a breakdown chorus/riff, sort of a backwards structure that puts you a little off balance and ill at ease. Larry's in great form here, regardless of how many OG members are backing him. A great band that really did no wrong, and still haven't. Don't forget Groinoids and Upsidedown Cross either. Do your fucking homework kids. Scum stats: a fiendish 330 copies with mandatory nun-themed artwork.(RK)

Non-Music Shit / Re: incredibly anal record shoppers

Someone purchased a bunch of releases from me.  He mailed me an over sized box with foam and album picture frames.  I was instructed to put each record in a picture frame and wrap it with foam.  This seemed kinda extreme to me, but I didn't mind doing it for him.  He spent a lot of money, and again he provided the box with the frames, so why not do it for him.

On paper the Rangers pitching staff is better, but C.J. Wilson has not looked good during the playoffs.  I really like the Rangers bullpen.

An amusing moment during the Orioles and Red Sox game this week.

Taking nothing away from Jeter's accomplishment, I just don't see him as classy as the majority of baseball fans do.  Not to mention these sycophant baseball writers that grant him gold gloves is laughable.

I am looking forward to hearing the tile no balls song on vol. 2.

Try Holywood Stamp.  They have made stamps for me of the AxCx logo which is on the offensive side of things.  There was no issue at all.
