Non-Music Shit / Re: Music Man Amp Head - Chassis No. 2275-130
« on: March 21, 2011, 08:51:51 AM »
Thanks for advice and comments on the Amp.

So after I posted my question I brought the Amp to a repair shop for an assessment of it's condition.  I figure this was worth the $30, and I could the tell the buyer what was exactly wrong with it.  I learned today that he actually fixed the Amp (All new tubes, some board work, and a new switch).  Total cost of $350.  We had a little conversation about that he was not supposed to do that, and he agreed (and would eat a little bit of the $).  As I mentioned before, my plan is to sell this Amp.  Do you think I could get more then $350 for this Amp, since it has been completely gone over and is in good working condition?

It looks like from this auction that he/she received only one shirt in their package.  I have two shirts.  The other one has Jay Reatard's name printed on it with a pair of scissors.  Did everyone else get the same thing?

What Jack White is doing in Nashville is pretty cool for the most part... I think it's cool that he's kind of doing the "eccentric millionaire" thing and putting out records that probably won't make him any real money just because he wants to...

I agree with you - I have not purchased any of these records, but I can't find fault in the way he is choosing spend his money.

I am going to keep an open mind on this trade.   I think there is more length, and a more defensive minded center coming during the contract buyout phase NBA player movement.  There is something to this we don't know about yet.  The Celtics have three open spots on the bench, which does not make sense unless this is the plan.  Agreed the O'Neil's cannot be relied upon solely for the remainder of the season/playoffs.

The Perkins trade shocked me at first (I watch every Celtics game being from Boston), but I have thought about this and it is good move (short and long term).  Perkins is a good player on a great team.  He is currently injured, and there is some question about whether or not he is fully recovered from the injury suffered during the finals.  He is currently favoring his left knee.  He was slow before the injury, and now he is even slower.  While a good defender, I do believe these skills are overstated.  There are nights that Howard owns him and vice versa.  The Celtics were I believe 24 & 4 without Perkins in the line up this year.  The reason the Celtics lost to the Lakers was because they lack length in game 7 (Perkins absence).  The Celtics have added length this year with both of the O'Neil's, and there is likely more length coming in the player buyout process.  The Celtics now have two or three open spots on the bench.  While some people may not like Green, there was a desperate need for the Celtics to get a scorer off the bench.  There was essentially no one to spell Peirce off the bench with the Daniels injury (and he couldn't score).

The Erden and Harangody trade is a bit of mystery, because they did give up length in Erden, and both of the players make basically nothing in terms of basketball player salaries.  Harangody has a playing and shooting style not unlike Big Baby Davis, and I think will develop into a good 6th man.  The pick they received as compensation, will be an early 2nd round, which is of some value.  I can only assume this has something to do with freeing up space to acquire someone at the time the contract buyouts start happening.

Bottom line is that I think the Celtics will still compete for the Championship, and their real competition is not the Heat or the Magic on the way to the finals.  It is the Bulls in my opinion.

Non-Music Shit / Re: what kind of music do you listen to?

I hate this question.  I usually respond with Rock, and yes it does seem like an incomplete answer to the question.  I will add the & Roll the next time it happens.  I always hope that the conversation ends there.  It usually doesn't, and when it continues, I generally give awkward incomplete answers.

A few years ago at work, someone transferred to the office I worked in from Texas.  I went to see him about some work related thing, and I heard what I thought was the Oblivians over the speakers on his computer.  I asked him what he was listening too?  This look of shear terror/how do I answer this question came over his face.  I would have likely given him the same look if the roles were reversed.  He responded "ah you would have never heard of them", too which I responded "try me" We have been friends for years now.  These conversations usually don't end this way.

Denver had no leverage in this trade.  They did the best they could by creating the LA Lakers ghost offer, and Anthony wouldn't sign with NJ, so they could not make that deal (even though it was much better).

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: Upsidedown Cross on Tour
« on: February 20, 2011, 12:18:56 PM »
I saw Upsidedown Cross last night.

They got shut down about three songs in, but still fun to see.  While they planned on doing Upsidedown Cross, Kilslug, Angry Hate and Sickness songs it did seem from what little I did get to see a bit improvisational.

This version of Upsidedown Cross is a two piece like Angry Hate

Larry Lifeless on Guitar and Vocals
Seth Putnam on Drums

There are other things worth mentioning, but I won't spoil it for those planning on going.  From what little I did get to see, it was worth it.  Actually the shows that get ended abruptly seem to me to be the most memorable.
