Non-Music Shit / Re: Baseball Thread 2011

If I were originally from the Northeast I suspect I would be the biggest douche bag Red Sox fan on Earth, I definitely get the appeal. But, because they are so so so overexposed, lionized and generally slobbered over on ESPN/national sports media, I have to root agin' em.

Well it is hard to root against the Giants.  I think we all see less of the Red Sox being over exposed on ESPN with the retirement of Peter Gammons.  I think the Buster Olney drones on too much about the Yankees for my liking.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / New Kilslug 7" - God's Funeral
« on: January 27, 2011, 05:04:23 PM »
While I did not put out this record, I have a few copies available to anyone interested on the board.  I will be sending in a copy for Terminal Boredom to review.  Fellow board member "rr" played "On The Rise" on his radio show.

These two 2 songs were recorded in 2010. It's the first studio recording since 1985's Answer The Call LP.  Limited to 330 copies

Side A - "On The Rise"
Side B - "Human Sacrifice"

The single is $6, plus postage.  Drop me a note at limited.appeal@gmail.com if you want a copy.

Thanks - Ken

Perkins looked good for the Celtics.  Once they get the bench healthy, things could be good for them come the playoffs.

I agree with your predication of the match up for the World Series, however I am not sure I agree with the outcome.  I love the speculation / optimism of the Hot Stove season.

I will be driving with my newborn son from Boston to Florida for some Red Sox spring training baseball in March.

The Yankees are really short on starting pitching.  At some level is dispointing for Red Sox fan.  Colon signing seems like a waste of time.

I can't believe it has been a year already.  I never met Jay, but I communicated with him over email (buying & selling records).   It is shame that we will never hear a new song from him. RIP

I have only used Bill Smith, and they have been great.  I press short runs of records, and they treat me like I press 10,000 records, whenever I call or email.  Very easy to deal with.  Never a problem.

I ship to 6 to 10 large packages of LP's to Europe every week or so, and I have had no issues.  I am trying out a new service this week.  Cheaper then the USPS for packages of 2 LP's and more, and fully trackable.  If it goes without a hitch I will let everyone know.

There is no risk in signing Manny for $2M (I am surprised he is playing for this amount considering how much he has made playing baseball, and who represents him), and this is coming from a Red Sox fan.  It is not a lot of money, and if he hits they can trade him to a contender at the trading deadline for nice prospect.  Seems like a sound move to me.  $6M+/- for Damon does not seem likely the brightest move, but I can't criticize the Rays front office staff, they have done a brilliant job managing that team with their financial constraints.

Boy were the Angels desperate!  Taking on the Wells contract is crazy.

I find it hard to believe that anyone walks in LA - The worst city in the US, in terms of Urban Planning.

I usued to drive 210 miles a day to work and back.  I did that for about a year.

Seth Putnam Collaboration

A Once (maybe twice) in a lifetime Opportunity!!  Jagger/Richards, Lennon/McCartney, You & Seth...

What is this & how does it work?

You pick the song title-Seth Putnam writes the music, the lyrics & records the song. This song will appear on a limited edition hand assembled/numbered record put out by Limited Appeal Records.  You get 5 copies of the record, including a limited colored vinyl version.  A picture of your choosing included in the booklet, and you get listed as an executive producer.

We are limiting this to 20 to 22 song titles, and we only have 5 or so left.  Some people have gotten together and shared a song title.

No rush on picking a song title.  I will give you time to make your choice.  Sorry "Paying Seth Putnam for Writing a Song is Totally Gay" is already taken.  When you factor in the value of the records, you are essentially getting to pick a song title for $20. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Not really a Buy-It-Now auction.  I don?t know what to say about these two auctions.  Someone can buy these records directly from me for $15.00, or someone can buy them off eBay for between $50 to $60 each.  I think what this says is that I am really bad at marketing my releases.

A Babe Ruth basball bat.  Nice gift, but a little strange when you consider I am  Red Sox fan.

The 5.0 sleeve from Sleeve City is a super quality/nice clear sleeve.  Looks great, and the pricing is better then Bags Unlimited.

I have no experience with them, but you are right their prices are really fair.  I would consider giving them a shot.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Re: Termbo Class of 2010
« on: December 24, 2010, 07:22:22 PM »
Reflecting for a moment on 2010, it was a good year for Limited Appeal Records.  We graduated to website from a myspace page.  That made it a lot easier for people to purchase records and in the end lead to a lot more sales ? lots more then I expected.

2010:

White Shit / Megafuckers - Split 12": Melvins/Big Business side project, doing hardcore inspired songs

Oneida - "Human Factor" 12": Live recording, with an etched B-Side

Black Helicopter - "Don?t Fuck with the Apocalypse" - sounds like Mission of Burma meets Pavement.  Raymond Pettibon silk screened jacket. Sort of a split release with Ecstatic Peace

Full Blown AIDS - "Viral Load" - Double LP - sounds like AxCx meets Eyehategod

Sloth - "Falafel" - 7"

2011:

Far Corners - "Ruling the Roost" b/w "Gold Choice" - 7" - Justin Hubbard from Turpentine Brothers new band

Chris Brokaw 12" - Being recorded next month

AxCx - "Wearing Out Our Welcome" - LP

Seth Putnam - You Pick the Song Title Record

Black Pus - LP - Brian Chippendale from Lightning Bolt side project

There will be other records that just have not come come together yet.
