Non-Music Shit / Re: Baseball 2010 thread

The A's don?t need Beltre.  He is the worst kind of baseball ball player.  His one night stand (or as Boras puts it - pillow contract) with the Red Sox was perfect for both the player and the team. Was it good for you? - yeah it was good for me too. He needs to be in a contract year to be motivated to perform (see his stats for his last year with the Dodgers & Red Sox), otherwise his numbers are lousy.  I was surprised Billy Beane was interested in Beltre, I consider him a bargain hunter.  Some team will over pay for him, and he will disappear into obscurity like he did with the Mariners.

More or less ended for me when they stopped allowing the use of paypal buttons.  I still get a note every once in a while from someone inquiring about buying a record.  I am considering closing the account.  One less place for me to check to see if I have a message.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments and advice.  I think I will get the $40-$50 assessment and sell it with the knowledge gained from the process.  Thanks again.

Non-Music Shit / Music Man Amp Head - Chassis No. 2275-130

Ok, so I found this in the trash.  It does not work.  I don't play guitar, so it is really of no use to me.

I am trying to decide if I should invest the money in fixing it, and selling it or just sell it as is.  Is this a desirable amp head?  What are your thoughts.

Thanks

Non-Music Shit / Re: shipping internationally
« on: September 25, 2010, 04:41:58 AM »
The post seems to be silent on the issues associated with shipping to Brazil.
I shipped a large quality of records there, and the package was returned by the Brazilian post to my house, after a few months.  The package was in terrible shape, and it had been submerged in water.  The records themselves were OK, but the jackets were destroyed.  Then the guy I was dealing with insisted that it was not the Brazilian posts fault.  Some sort of country pride thing.  In lieu of arguing with him I sent him a new batch of records on my dime ? to the tune of $50+/-.  Not to mention I get to make a bunch on new jackets.  This may be an isolated experience, however I am considering not shipping there in the future.

I honestly don't know how many Watts WMBR broadcasts under, but I can get WERS almost all the Providence RI, and I can't get WMBR nearly that far.  I have to believe that WERS has more broadcasting wattage the WMBR.

Music Shit / Blank Double Album Record Jackets
« on: September 24, 2010, 04:11:26 PM »
I know that Bags Unlimited has these, but I was hoping there was another vendor out there that someone could put me in touch with.  Blank white would do, but I would really like to get my hands on some grey ones.  I am looking for plus or minus 200 of them.

Thanks

The record is in an edition of 480-124 on Colored (opaque brilliant blue) vinyl; one Sided 12" with an etched B-Side. Silkscreened cover, hand numbered & hand written record centers. The first and only time "The Human Factor" (from triple album opus, "Rated O") was performed live. Recorded during their intimate studio-only Ocropolis series in January of 2009.

WERS makes this, but WMBR does not!

I saw them play at Seth Putnam's wedding and they were great!  This CD is disappointing.

Cities / Re: BOSTON

All that I would add is that, Boston has the best college radio I have experienced in the country.

88.1: WMBR
90.3: WZBC ? Not as good as it used to be
95.3: WHRB

I think you will enjoy your stay.

I am not sure I would live anywhere else.

The Pirates have a beautiful ball park, and it is a shame they don?t have a better team.  Hopefully they can do what the Rays have done in the American League East, as they will have a difficult time attracting quality free agent talent.  They would have to overpay to attract talent like Detroit had to do 5 or so years ago.  Dunn seems like an unlikely signing, but then again he is playing for the Nationals so maybe there is a chance.  He did attract a lot of interest at both trading deadlines, so it seems the free agent interest maybe high.

My least favorite baseball clich? is ?plays the game the right way?  When I hear this I wonder if some baseball players run the bases in the opposite direction, or hold the fat end of the bat.

I have been listening WMBR - Breakfast of Champions and the Late Risers Club - 8:00am to Noon weekdays for over two decades.  You can download the radio shows from there website - see link below;
