OK!! Everything I read said thatr sid had never ever played bass before joining the band. It said he was a drummer and that they added him as a bass player strictly for image purposes. So there doesnt seem to be any question about that. However, it did say that he worked very hard to learn the bass and that he did become a decent bass player. So why couldnt someone just have wrote that in a response?

Whatever. Im past all of your childish behavior. I forgive you. Its cool. We can just move on.

So, were the sex pistols a better band with the matlock fella, or with Sid?

I am not Clint and I am not Jackie Shark. Those two things I can promise you.
I know the Shark's son thru a couple of friends, and the Jackie Shark threads are what got me interested in this site. However, I am now interested in finding out more about punk music. Obv it has been lots of fun with the back and forth, but I will be making a trip to the local library this afternoon. I do have a genuine desire to learn more about why the sex pistols are considered legends of the punk world. So look for me in about a week with a sex pistols t shirt and all the albums. I will then start a thread about why the sex pistols are the greatest band of all time. All I did was ask what all the fuss was about. The knuckleheads on here turned it into something else with the insults and the flat out lack of respect. It is not my fault that assholes responded to the thread. Thank you to the few people who left legitimate posts here.

Im actually trying to "learn" about punk more than anything. I began this thread by saying that my knowledge of punk is limited and that I was looking for opinions of others. So I do not claim to be a know-it-all when it comes to punk. I recently became interested in it and wondered why the sex pistols were so beloved. So why the hostile negative response from eveyone? According to Tom Huckabee most of you are assholes and not punks.

A great quote that i just read at break my face .com:

A member of the audience at our second show told a reporter, "These guys would be nothing if it wasn't for the cops." How right she was; we sounded like the Pistols with Sid on every instrument. But then our mission wasn't musical; our mission was to stir the shit, cure boredom and strip the gears of musical privilege in Austin, represented by the folk, blues and cosmic cowboy oligarchies.
