wow. Not a lot of Sublime fans huh? I have heard some punk bands that other people consider good that i thought was shit. It sounded awful. I actually like the scarlett song, but I will admit now I am looking forward to hearing the deads version!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that is better. Actual suggestions. Wow i guess that is difficult for the punker community to have a reasonable discussion and to actully treat someone with even the smallest amount of respect. And as i said before, everyone is brave on a message board. Gas station, grocery store, the local punk rock store, whatever. Just letting people know that I promise u dont say that shit to me face to face. I fucking promise that. So anywhere on the planet. I actually think I will read that book and that I will invest a little time to become better informed. So thank you for the "helpful" posts. Even tho it is obv that i can read. So thank you for that. And to anyone esle, i will tell you which gas stations I frequent and we can continue our discussion.

So whats the question? about my collection and age? Why do I need a collection that someone "approves" of? Why does my age matter? I have been into punk for a lot less time that probably anyone here. Im sorry but I dont get the sex pistols. Thats it. Ive heard a few things about them that suggest they werent as great as some people make them out to be. I have heard the term "fraud" used to describe the sex pistols. So I wanted the opinion of people who knew lots about it. So I posted the thread. Attacking me with comments like that are uncalled for.

Yes this thread is real. I wanted to get opinions from people who hold them so high. I think The Dead Boys or Slaughter and the Dogs are far superior bands. Maybe they werent as big, or didnt have the same impact that the Sex Pistols did, but they were better punk bands. How many people thought the Sex Pistols were good when they were out? Did they not get booed off the stage on their American tour? It just seems like more of a novelty thing to me. Has anybody else ever heard that the Sex Pistols were a hoax and got exposed while on their American tour?
Its like that fish I caught when I was 10. It was really a blue gill that was smaller than a piece of bread but here we are twenty years later and people tell the story of the 20 Ft tiger shark I caught. The real thing was far less exciting than the myth.

My knowledge of punk is limited I will admit. However, from what I have heard and read about the Sex Pistols, they seem a bit overrated. I hope this is not considered blasphemy or anything. The music is ok, but is it also true that they were below average musicians? Someone suggested to me that they even had studio musicians help them do most of their record. Is thart that true? It just seems to me like maybe their attitude and "punk rock" persona had more to do with them being the face of punk than their actual music did. Any thoughts? Anyone wanna tell me why the Sex Pistols are so revered?

Damn it!! Me too. When I hear it on the radio(and i am by myself) I rock out to some Billy Idol. I was just having this conversation with a friend of mine the other day when "White Wedding" came on the radio. And yes, we were jammin to it.
