Goin on a med run to Nogi this weekend.....

If you don't mind me asking is this for financial reasons or for fun? If I lived near the border this would probably be tempting as I'm uninsured right now. Too afraid of the possible consequences (?) though.

Which would explain a lot (about Paul Ryan).

Thanks.

Off-topic:

Both sides of my family are pretty WASP-y, and neither of them (divorced) have ostentatious houses. My mom's has an indoor pool, that's about the closest they come to bad taste. From the street it looks like a normal house.

My step-dad (who bought the house) is EXTREMELY WASP-y. His family's from Janesville, WI and go to the same church/country club as the Ryans. He went to high school with Paul Ryan, and told me he was pretty much made fun of throughout.

Last night at work I took care of a man who'd had hip surgery in Mexico and it became infected. He was on IV antibiotics and spoke no English. I speak very, VERY limited Spanish. Every time I had to go into his room to change his IV bag or give him pain medicine he smiled and said "gracias" and I said "donata!" Which I wasn't even 100% sure was Spanish for "you're welcome." Despite the language barrier he was really nice and probably one of the best and most interesting patients I've ever had.

New Jersey is a hotbed for horribly ugly mansions as well, or so I've heard. One of my best friends from high school dated a guy from there, and they went driving through all these ridiculous neighborhoods and took pictures. Proof positive that money =/= good taste. Often times it's the opposite.

The only ethnic minority I've ever worked with enough to form an opinion about is Philippine immigrants. Nurses are basically their #1 export to the U.S. for reasons I'm not entirely sure of. The girl I work with is so hard-working, I worry about her mental health. She regularly stays 3-4 hours over her shift (after clocking out) to finish busywork that others could easily take over.

Ceaucescu is a good band name.
It's actually the album name in the case above, fyi.  So it's probably available.

My bad.

What's the band? I feel dumb.

Cheveu's first album.

I'm on a major music nostalgia kick lately.

Still so good.

Yes that is me in that photo, I am not a mannequin. Most photos of me tend to not move, yes.

Interesting assumption though.

The Night Stalker is worth the $0.99 you'd likely have to pay.  The expanded version includes updated interviews with Ramirez from prison and a lot of detail on the ladies that are super down for him (including the juror/wife).

That phenomenon always creeps me out. Didn't he marry some chick while he was/is in prison? As serial killers go Ramirez was pretty interesting I guess, but I never understood the whole fandom thing.

Is Ann Rule's The Stranger Beside Me worth the time? I've heard other people suggest it before, but obviously never read it.

Holy shit! I was just digging through my records trying to find that copy of Memphis Is Dead, and turns out I DO have a copy of the S/T on vinyl. I have no idea where I got it, or how long I've had it, it looks like it's never been played and was still in the cellophane. It is now gently wafting through my empty house.

Also, it still cracks me up when I think about the time that Jay got mad at Alicja on the Goner board around that time and wrote something like, "Fuck you old laddy!" I always imagined him saying it in a pirate voice and then threatening to make her walk the plank afterwards.

There was another classic insult where he called her music "Veruca Salt shit" or something like that.

LOL. My dad's disgusting ex-girlfriend/wife (who was 4 years older than me) fucking loved Veruca Salt and used to play their CDs all the time when we were home alone. Horrid memories.

In Cold Blood has been on my list for quite some time. Someday I WILL get around to reading it.

And I'm all about books that keep people from talking to me.

Non-Music Shit / True crime book reccommendations?

I don't know if anything like this has already been posted or not, sorry if it has.

I'm trying to read more - anyone have any tips on any true crime books that aren't over-the-top pulpy or just worthless? Per my husband's suggestion I bought Helter Skelter the other day but I haven't started reading it yet.

Much thanks!

Good 'n' creepy.  Would make a good album cover.

Terribly unnerving. In a "good" way, but still incredibly creepy.
