I think it's safe to say that ol' Lux lived a full life.

And if he's got a problem being dead, I'm sure he could pull himself outta the grave, no problem.

amen and goodnight

A buddy in high school (Frank Tank - for real!) was related to Vince McMahon, so when Hogan & Andre & whomever were in Green Bay wrestling, they'd drive up to their farm and party after the events. I always wanted to stop by, but they never invited anyone. I guess Andre could drink the whole world under the table.
i bet!

Music Shit / Re: The first time you ever heard BLACK FLAG
« on: February 04, 2009, 06:46:09 PM »
the very first time i heard black flag was in the seventh grade.......my friend ben picked up my war at surfin bird probably based on the cover art as well as reading about them somewhere.......i didn't quite know what to think of it then....  a few months later, sometime in 1997, an issue of alternative press came out that had the "100 Most Influential Underground Artists" in it......this proved to be indispensible in those pre-internet (for me) days.....the first four years, hardcore devo, the swans, husker du, whitehouse, birthday party, throbbing gristle, and countless other bands i discovered through this magazine i purchased at the grocery store.......i looked at the issue a year or so ago when visiting my folks, and the album picks are pretty spot on especially for that crappy rag. as mentioned earlier, the days when id pick up an album with my allowance (12-13) and have no idea what it was, gauging my purchase on the cover or maybe something i thought or read about the band were quite strange..... i ended up with alot of crap, but somehow the stuff that blew me away resonates with me even moreso than stuff i discovered much more easily.

That time that they played Endless Nameless, went to the Globe and played, then came back played EN again ruled!  The latest set was lots of Kinks and Beatles.

They were pretty awesome backing Tommy Stinson here too.

All that said, I don't have any wanting to check 'em out in 2009.

what i remember most about that endless nameless show was justin kunesh pissing in an empty high life bottle, slamming it, and then kissing his girlfriend in front of the whole crowd

I saw the Cramps at House of Blues in Chicago about 4 years ago. Lux tossed a mic stand over his head and it hit Ivy right on top of the head. He didn;t see it and looked around confused when the guitar stopped for a second, but Ivy had righted herself and barely missed a note. Between songs she yelled something at him and he said sorry. Later, Lux started hitting some douchebag in the front row that kept try to grab his leg and pull him off the stage. And he was almost sixty then!!

FUCK. I'm gonna miss ya LUX!

i had tickets to this show, but my girlfriend at the time was being a colossal bitch.  now i will never see the cramps. instead of lux, why couldn't some of my exes died....2 of em especially

I'm pretty teary-eyed about this listening to the Cramps right now, as they're only band besides Devo that I'd still keep in my top 10 all-time favorite bands from when I was 13 years old.  I'm feeling rather old and defeated right now.  Fuck.

I just hope Lux and Bryan Gregory hook up on the other side and get something going waiting for the others...

i usually am indifferent to musicians passing, but the cramps were a gateway into so much cool shit for me.........they exist on a different plane the most bands.........so unique and influential...so many memories....especially hearing bad music for bad people the first time in middle school and finally seeing the napa video a years later after reading about it for so long.....scoring the urgh a music war video at salvation army and seeing live cramps performances for the first time......introducing the band to my first real girlfriend, who also fell in love with them..... getting those research books and reading about how lux and ivy met, and checking out some of the records they reccomended....truly the end of a great band and one of the greatest and longest romaces in rock n roll.

RIP Lux

I just want to hear this story picked up by another site, not only the Daily Swarm. It seems that everyone is just linking back to the original article.

I think a call to the Glendale Memorial Hospital is in order. Maybe when I get home.

Edit: Looks like it's appearing elsewhere. Well, shit.
yeah, the pitchfork article even lifts the photo from that dailyswarm site.......you'd think the cramps official web page would have something......i still don't want to believe this even though it may be true
