Non-Music Shit / Re: Hoarders season premiere 11/30!
« on: November 25, 2009, 02:33:12 PM »

I really was only kidding when I said "She was from Wisconsin. (Jus' sayin!)". But you guys don't think there's something to that, do you?

When I lived at the DAM House, it looked like we exhibited some hoarding tendencies. But not when compared to the people on this TV show. Most of the stuff that we kept around (that's still there!) is stuff that's somewhat enshrined for the sake of making people laugh when you give them a tour of the house....

"Oh, and this....this is a collection of receipts for $4 lattes and mochas that one of our old roommates used to get daily...and sometimes twice or three times daily if you look at the dates on the receipts. And here is a collection of notes that she wrote to explain why her rent was late." (Those are from eight years ago.)

That lady has nothing on some of the people i've encountered in rural areas and small towns throughout Wisconsin. And DJ Rick, you are correct in the notion that there is something about that lady that stems from her environment.

Lots of great moments in the food hoarder lady episode, such as 'oh THAT pumpkin!' or when the kid says his mom 'is actually a pretty good cook'

Wotta goof she was!

She actually gave that pumpkin a eulogy before allowing it to be thrown out, but then before it was halfway into the trash, she wanted to salvage its seeds to hopefully grow another one like it.

She was from Wisconsin. (Jus' sayin!)
my friend lives in a complex 50 feet from this woman. her house is once again full of various junk. i could not tell if it was food or not. i know of two other ocd hoarders in our neighborhood, and lived with one of them for two years.  dave would sleep in the overhead cupboards in his room because he had no space for a mattress on the floor. he had boxes of broken glass, used staples, you name it. 90 percent of his time was spent getting high and obsessively reorganizing all of this useless shit at weird hours of the night. our house was repeatedly fined by the city for all of the crap in our yard, including a giant wooden cart on castors that dave used for junk picking and eventually moving most of his shit out of the house. luckily, or landlord was dave's best friend, and equally as fucked. man i could go on for hours about that place.

Brett Allen's first burst?

Kevin wrote....
Quote
I used to play in this psychedelic/freejazz/noise band called Somnambulist and one time after a show this super hot kinda gothy/punk chick who was dancing through our whole set (the only person even really watching us) came up to me and got right up in my face, grabbed me by the collar, but in a very sexy, not confrontational way and said "That was soooo amazing! You guys are the Pink Floyd of the 90's." It was 2000. I informed her of this fact, kinda pushed her out of my way and walked on.

hahahaha that's her. i lived with her and her mom when i got tossed out of my parents house in high school. her mom bought us booze and pizzas every weekend. her aunt nailed both jello biafra (who i was surprised wasnt gay) and al jorgenson at separate times in chicago during the early 80s. i blew a bunch of coke with her aunt before seeing philip glass at the weidner center which was excruciatingly fucking boring.

At least she had good taste... IN MUSIC.

zing! on a side note, this chick also deemed kevin's old band somnambulist "the pink floyd" of the nineties.

Music Shit / Re: prime-era dwarves footage??
« on: November 04, 2009, 07:31:06 PM »
dear terminal boredom,

i want video of dwarves shows from the toolin/blood guts era, but youtube is coming up bone-dry.  do such videos exist?  it is not fair that the internet generation be deprived of these documents.

im betting the footage exists in the collection of merle allin and other dudes who used to sell out of the classifieds in mrr. they probably have no desire to share that shit on youtube
