Music Shit / Re: PRINCE DEAD

"Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades.... Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince's and Eddie Murphy's bitch) Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I've reported you to the Carver County Sherrif's office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie murphy's house. You best get tidying your man cave."---Sinead O'Connor

Don't know what your idea of early country is so here are a few recommendations/favorites off the top of my head.

The Louvin Brothers - Tragic Songs of Life and Satan is Real
Maddox Brothers and Rose - S/T
George Jones - The Crown Prince of Country Music and The Race is On
Buck Owens - S/T and Live at Carnegie Hall and I've Got a Tiger by the Tail
Charlie Poole - The Legend of Charlie Poole
Willie Nelson - Red Headed Stranger
Ray Charles - Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music
Merle Haggard - Mamma Tried and I Am a Lonesome Fugitive
Loretta Lynn - Don't Come Home a Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)
Dolly Parton - Coat of Many Colors and Jolene
Hank Snow - Country Classics
Webb Pierce - S/T
Jimmie Rogers - The Essential
The Carter Family - The Famous Carter Family

Saw a lot of AmRep bands and still pull out a few records from time to time. Unfortunately, the production doesn't match the intensity of the live performance. I loved Cows, Surgery, Halo of Flies and Hammerhead but I also dug Chokebore, Love 666 and Supernova.

I saw a God Bullies/Steel Pole Bathtub show that was so good---I drove three hours the next night to see them again.

I thought The Color of Noise was lousy. It lacked a narrative and was repetitive. A decent editor may have fixed the problem.

Hillary Clinton will be an extension of Barack Obama in terms of truly backing a liberal agenda. This means lots of promises and little to show for it. Obama's support of unions turned out to be nothing but campaign talk. Clinton will continue to pretend to support unions but her big bank daddy dollars won't really allow her to do anything about the need to feed unions in this country. In addition, she won't do anything about bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. so we will continue to watch the middle class erode while unskilled/uneducated adults fill the fast food jobs that used to keep spending money in teenager's pockets.

Reading The Martian because it was the best thing in the airport "bookstore." It's an easy/fun read but I'm not sure why so many people gushed about it.

Fucking crushed. As a kid growing up in a small redneck town, Bowie was the first to let me know that it was okay to be different.

A response from a rejected lowball offer:

"I am unsure why you bother offering a "make offer" option if you clearly don't wish to accept any, nor offer a counter offer. I am very interested in these but I guess you don't feel the same. This makes me very sad."

Interested but is it worth dropping $75? Convince me/don't convince me.

anyone go to any of these shows?

went to the LA one and had a good time. seemed like yow didn't know the words / timing to some songs. yet yow ended up being yow towards the end; jumping in the crowd, etc.

either way i had a good time. it was better than expected.

I went to the Halloween show in Brooklyn and I was blown away. I didn't expect that. I was doubtful. I was skeptical. But it was a free show and free beer so I went. Holy shit. One of the best shows I've seen in a while.

I'm being threatened, by Discogs, that I'm going to lose my account for calling someone a cunt. It was well deserved and felt good the minute I typed it.
