Music Shit / Re: New Royal Headache LP streaming on NPR

I think radioactivity is a really good live band that I will go see any time I have the chance but I have never thought to myself, "I wish I was listening to radioactivity right now." which is pretty telling of a band.

Barcelona lp that LVEUM did earlier this year is phenomenal.  I love the spanish sound.  Definitely more tame than some of the other bands that play this stuff, but the sound is so good.  The record is a constant bummer in the right way.

yeah no doubt, but in general overlooked compared to many of the others that I feel have weaker or less interesting output.  NYC teenage black female singer/bass player in 1979 that has a SICK song and it hasn't been comped?
I digress, maybe my friends are as hip as ya'll and were just stoked to hear the song.

kind of the wrong thread but does anyone know anything about this?  is it a current bootleg or legit repress or what?  Not really trying to spend $40+ on a 7" repress but curious at least about what it is.  Greek sellers have been putting it up there for about 6 months (none selling).

I said it earlier in this thread but I think the nasty facts single is one of the best overlooked singles of the era.  Glad to hear people will be able to buy it again

Nothing overlooked here. It's been a punk/power pop fav since its release and hasn't let up. I don't love it, but its popularity is undeniable. This record is usually one of the first people hear when they dip their toes into New Wave era obscurities.

hasn't been on a comp since the 80's and every time I play it out I have a bunch of punks ask me what it is. Maybe it used to be mega popular is it is with your social group or something, but it's not on a kbd/bloodstains.  The only time I remember seeing it referenced was in that "reference of female fronted punk" and I think it was only "drive my car" (the standout obviously).  Their second 7" I think was on that m'lady cassette only comp from a few years back but.... cassette comp....

my wife heard it and said it sounded like franz ferdinand.  I don't think she's wrong.  great record.  Hits me the same way many other anthemic records do.

Never had a problem with Numero. Looking forward to the Ork 4XLP comp. You can probably score Blood Red River for the price of the reissue.

Really? That would be nice.

it's a $20-30 record.

Much better than first lp (which was great too).  super super impressed.  I thought the last record was really wonderful to listen to in the summer but some of the songs felt rushed and not necessarily in the cool-about-to-implode way, more in the "didn't quite get it on tape" kinda way.  New lp is just perfect.  even the "ballad" is cool.

Blazing Eye on LVEUM is really really good.  After being un-blown away by dawn of humans records but being a dumb fanboy about seeing them live, the new lp is really really pumping me up.  Great album.  I feel like I've been seeing some really undeniably good hardcore and punk bands over the last few years but very few of the records have stuck in my collection beyond a year or two.  It makes it hard to justify buying new records as I see myself purging records by GREAT bands that put out total wallpaper lp's.

The Ork 7" box is very nice.  That said I'm selling mine if anyone is interested.  I have the 7"s I want out of that and impulse bought it to hear the rest.

It's at least one ex major label worker and a couple guys that worked for labels before.  i think their output isn't insane, especially compared to other contemporary reissue labels.  And they do stick almost entirely to soul/funk/r&b, but the few punk or rock things they've done have been quality (wayfaring stranger comp, unwound, michigan meltdown comps, Antena, sudden/jacobites, etc) and haven't suffered from either a)crummy sound quality, or b)crummy packaging which are the two things that most reissue labels tend to butcher (mississippi, 4 men, plain, etc).  I'm sure some of those comps could be cut from 2 lp's to 1 lp, but at the same time the people that complain about twoo many songs on an lp also complain when more songs exist that could have been added.
