I had an expiring numero subscription and they let me use the discount on the ORK boxset, so it cost I think $80?  If you're in nyc the numero pop up shop in greenpoint is open tomorrow and they're $100

Been a while since I complained about them.

I like how they put "open to swapping" on every listing now.

How does that work? Does he want you to trade a $100 single for another $100 single? Does he want you to trade a $100 single for his $15 single which he values at $100? This could get confusing. Obviously, his $20 records are $100 records, but how much are yours worth?!

he bought a cheap record off of me (think it was naked raygun reissues?) and immediately contacted me asking if I wanted to trade. Of course a ton of stuff he's "selling" is on my wantlist, but I'm not about to throwdown 2 or 3 times what they're worth because he's going to give me $15 credit for the record I'm selling him.  I just ignored the message and sent his record.  He payed quickly and left feedback right away so no real complaints

I just sold a normal pressing of the Who Killed Spikey Jacket lp for $50.  jaw-agape shocked at people paying more than $15 for it.

$200+ for a reatard test seems probably right.  that's a $50 record regularly and there aren't going to be anymore reatard records anytime soon.

Music Shit / Re: Best & Worst Distros/Labels
« on: March 28, 2015, 10:31:23 AM »
I haven't been ordering from distros as much since I moved to nyc, but here are ones that I still think are tops:

LVEUM:  doesn't even need to be discussed because of how amazing paco is.  He even worked out some deals with me for stuff he was selling through discogs.  best guy.  Now that the euro and pound are in the trash maybe I"ll order some more stuff.

Sorry State:  fastest turnaround of any distro.  Offer two box packaging for a buck more or something mega cheap.  Will do a hold pile for you if you're going to order more than once right around the same time.

Katorga:  Even though I live a few blocks from adam's "office" I still mailorder stuff sometimes because I work too many jobs.  I get records fast and since he got "employees" or whatever it's been super fast.

There are a few records my dad gave me or my wife gave me that I wouldn't sell, but all of the rare/bonzers would absolutely be up for grabs if someone offered enough money.  I mean, if someone wants to give me tens of thousands of dollars for dischord/kbd/driver records I'll just rebuy them for a few hundred and travel with the rest (or buy other cool stuff).

I got a jimboco copy of "Drive My Car" in exchange for pricing a few records.  the sleeve kind of water damaged but it plays well.  I was playing it for a friend who had never heard it, assuming he'd be able to buy a boot and was surprised to see there wasn't one.  I've never seen that boot posted above, but would probably buy one if I came across it.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Ebay return question
« on: February 21, 2015, 12:34:30 PM »
Returning stuff seeems to vary. Sometimes ebay will make the seller pay for the return (one private seller had to create a label and send it to me! Fucking furious he was!) sometimes ebay send you a return label themselves which they pay for. I had a very strange one last week where a Canadian parcel was sent too slowly for it to arrive before the paypal claim time elapsed. I had to put in a claim to cover myself, ebay immediately refunded me. When the parcel arrived ebay paid the seller the money but never asked me to pay the money back!

How is that possible?  The paypal claim time is now SIX MONTHS!  Did it really take a seller 6 months to send you something?
It's 45 days as far as I'm aware, unless it's changed? I'm in the uk if that makes any difference. Surely you can't keep something for over 5 months then make a claim?

Changed to 180 days last fall. And yeah, it's a rule that fully fucks sellers.

Finally got this, cost me 32 dollars though which is pretty hefty for a new LP. Totally worth it anyway.

why did it cost you that much?  I think mine was maybe $15?

Iceage is one of the worst bands I've ever seen.  I agree with Nick that it's amazing that they have been able to continue touring as constantly as they have, while being known for being a horrendous live act.  first record is good though.

I don't think my negative show review should be a reflection of how I feel about the band as a whole:  I really like Dark Blue.  I think the 7"s are okay, but I think the new record is great.  I just think live they were kind of boring indie rock, and if you're going to be a boring indie rock band, then being a weird rude front man doesn't work.  If any other boring indie rock band that didn't have Sharkey in it pulled the "calling people in the audience out" thing, termbo wouldn't like it, but because he used to put out amazing records, it's totally cool that this boring indie rock band has a front man than makes fun of individual audience members.

anyway, I think they were just kind of whatever live. I thought it sounded awesome (whoever said the guitar was great was right) but the songs didn't play well live for me.  "Out of Time" was totally something my wife called out and I couldn't unhear it.  It was whatever the second song was they played, and it just sounded so lame and late-80's college rock that it made it hard to enjoy.  It's probably a song I really like recorded, but live, with the posturing, it was just boring.

Dark Blue - 2pm show at Rough Trade in Brooklyn-

Antagonist front person works when you're playing in an aggressive Scientists sounding punk band, but when you're fronting a band that sounds like the b-sides from "Out of Tim", you just seem like a prima donna.  I like the Dark Blue songs online, but as soon as my wife looked at me with a smirk and said "this sounds like REM" I just couldn't unhear it.  My takeaway:  being in an indie rock band and being an asshole to people that decided to come see your band play on a Sunday afternoon isn't cute or punk, it just means you're kind of a dick.

was that actually good?  I looked at the preview pages online and it looked kind of whatever.

I forgot about how cool Trees is too.

image is the most exciting place making comics right now.  It's crazy the number of quality comics they're pushing out:

-manhattan project
-c.o.w.l.
-southern bastards
-east vs west
-lazarus

and of course, the freaking bonkers-good SAGA.
