"First!" - oh wait a minute ha, some bright assholes got there before me. Yeah.. I'd hate this if I didn't like it so much whilst enjoying wallowing in my indifference towards it...

Yeah maybe I'll wait for the album to come out first... ah, fuck it, haha. Yeah hopefully there's more bullshit and songs and melodies on this one than the last few...

The Basquiat appearances on TV Party are on the extras of the Downtown 81 DVD. (They're probably on Youtube or somethin.) . Some great footage of DNA, Tracy & The Plastics, James Chance performing with The Blacks/Contortions (with Joe Bowie on trombone, & cigar (!))  in the Peppermint Lounge etc.

Also seems to be a few DVD's available of this : http://www.amazon.com/TV-Party-Glenn-OBrien/dp/B000CQM2MG

http://tvparty.tv/ : Would be interested to see the episode(s) from Japan too - seems to have its own DVD. Have seen bits of that Tokyo Rockers video and its got some real quality footage + some excellent performances from Friction, Mr. Kite and the like back in their heyday.

More TV Party info from the Termbo Archives:

Nice one. Cheers for the redirect. Very interesting read which only makes me more determined to score some copies of the episodes. Surely someone from the crew kept copies of the whole thing.. It would make for some great insight into an (unfortunately short-lived) exciting time & place. TB Theater eh? Haha sounds to me like it's ready made for Vimeo - or someplace with as little red tape as possible. There's enough personalities/label people on here to fill up a couple of trial segments I'm sure (especially with the cheap & affordable tech folks have at their disposal these days).

That reference in the article to it being based as much on Johnny Carson as much as it was on Hugh Hefner?s Playboy Cocktail Party reminded me of these couple of prime skits from Lenny Bruce on an early installment of Playboy Penthouse circa 1959. Great footage and Lenny was in superb form. Note how he subtlely steals the Hef's drink, and some posh prick's handkerchief (after gollying into it no less) all in the course. Quality stuff even 50 odd years later:

and the pill snorting Nurse Jackie is pretty awful.  she's no House.

Don't watch either, but thought House was pretty shit. I don't know how its done/did so well in the States - is it just another case of viewers contracting another dose sweaty ballsac syndrome whenever an established British actor plays the role of the (antagonizing) dry-humored protaganist in an American series? Its not funny or interesting or anything. Seems to have about as much creative spark as your average episode of Father Dowling's Mysteries/Murder She Wrote. The layout of the storyline of those shows is the same even from what I've seen. 90% bollockin around then some additional point of interest is revealed which wraps up the episode. Plus House is a complete dickhead. Someone needs to dropkick that motherfucker in the face - several times.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/10/23/jack-huston-on-boardwalk-empire-playing-richard-harrow-the-mask-and-more.html

Short interview with Jack Huston who plays Richard Harrow in Boardwalk Empire. Had no idea he was related to Angelica Huston (nephew) and director/actor John Huston (grandson). That would explain the great acting so.

That interview contains spoilers of the most recent episode btw.

TV sucks

Shit. Seriously? Had to happen sooner or later I guess... best close this topic now before it spreads to other sources of entertainment.

The Commodore deserved it, though.

True that. Don't really mind the heavy goin on the gore in Boardwalk myself, as long its used sparingly and effectively like when folks are getting all gangsta'. This one seems a little better paced than the first season too. And the chess pieces are still moving back, forth and every which way at the moment. And here i thought everything everything was relatively settled into position at the end of the first series.

Anyone checking out this Hells on Wheels on AMC, Sunday? Some new Western starting up. Looks pretty impressive (& expensive), visually at least. Reminds me a little of the look & feel of There Will Be Blood. Am a little partial to the odd scuzzbucket western from time to time - also must check out that Justified one too. Have heard good things.

Boardwalk Empire Season 2's been storming it. Getting real horrorshow the last few weeks. That last episode with Eli smashin in your man's head. Old school Scorcese. Equally as mental was Jimmy's mom slapping the face of the Commodore while he just lies there whimpering in bed after the stroke. Sick is the word.

Luther is pretty sweet ... did the second season aired yet?

Good man Rob! Great show. Thought i read somewhere Season 3 was greenlit too. Idris Elba's got that shit down. Pity the seasons are so short though.

too samey, yet too different! not enough arcade fire!

Avid Pitchfork Reader, me arse.

You need to clap your hands (and say yeeeeeargh) with more conviction... and/or do a post-dubstep/garage-rock collaboration with Bon Iver and James Blake, maybe.

I wouldn't call it straight exploitation, but if you've got a marathon of a couple blaxploitation movies and slip that one in, it's not gonna seem too outta place.

Another good one: TRUCK TURNER!

Bought a rather ingenious DVD double-pack about a year ago with The Thing With Two Heads [http://youtu.be/gWHNA_j7h5A] after seeing the trailer. Pretty much the trailer shows the best parts. But what a smashin' trailer! Came doubled with The Incredible Two Headed Transplant film starring Bruce Dern and Casey Kasem. [http://youtu.be/myvltniwzxI] Transplant was much the better of the two. Worth a look.

I enjoy the end result of all these qualifiers, but it sure as hell is painful getting there.

Tell us about it! Ah there's always a bit of interest if your country is a mid-ranked team then its always a nailbiting finale to the group stages. Most importantly i think we deserve a something coming out of this they way France took our potential spot in the World Cup (through Henry's handball) and then proceeded to bitch and moan their way through the group stages of the tournament. But as far as the Euros go, for the big teams its usually a typical walkthrough the groups alright. With the bigger teams i find it can be interesting watching some of the younger up and coming players playing outta there skin, trynna make a name for themselves in the latter stages too. Like Spain, Germany, Holland, will probably throw a load of class youth players out for their final games. Makes it interesting times for the potential runners-up if the points are close.
