Music Shit / Re: mid-year best of 2012.5 lists?

* Next to The Oblivians @ Gonerfest 8, I think Monoshock must be one of the only two reunion shows that I've seen that exceeded my expectations of what it was like to see the band in their prime.

I think you mean Gonerfest 7

Are you already out of the Pin Group LP reissue?

I've thought all along that some series of events will pit Jesse against Walter. Maybe Jesse finds out Walter poisoned Brock and a war ensues. Mike hates Walter, so I would suppose he would align with Jesse.

really excited about the Sacto show tonight

I go through cooking spirts. Typically they end with me cooking something really gross. I'm having a pretty good run right now. Made some Mac and Cheese on Monday night from ingredients that were just sort of handy. Came out great!

I have beef stew brewing in the crock pot at home right now. Pretty typcially fair (good quality chuck beef, carrots, potatoes, spices, etc). This is my first time making stew so I'm hoping it turns out good.

The best thing I've made in a long time was a roasted pork shoulder - I included some potatoes and veg in the roasting pan so everything came out tasting like the pork - soo good. Also made this gravy with it that was pretty tastey considering I had winged it. A day or two later I made an openfaced sandwich for Rick using the leftover pork. Had two pieces of sourdough wheat walnut bread, layered some of the gravy, then pieces of the pork. Finished it off with some cheese (can't remember what type - was from Pt. Reyes cheese factory). Warmed it up .... very tastey according to Rick.

I recently dropped my gym membership (flabbyness here I come!). When I was going regularly though I was listening almost exclusively to Severed Heads' Dead Eyes Opened .

The USSR Radio Sputnik folks blog theirs, though it appears they haven't updated it in a while:

Lady Kay blogs her shows here:
http://www.triplofonicsounds.blogspot.com/

Those are the only two KDVS DJ blogs that come to mind besides Rick's & mine.

I know a lot of links are broken for future primitive studies - if your interested in a particular show your more than welcome to pm me. I have most of them downloaded and saved on my PC.

Rick was very persistant throughout spring/summer of 2011 to make me a fan of mid-80s Killing Joke (5th and 6th albums I think). It really took a long time for those ones to warm up to me. Still a few tracks I can't handle. Most of it though I've grown to love.

I have the Hear a New World Lp, Portrait of a Genius Boxset, Let's Go! cd comp, and the Work In Progress cd comp. Out of the comps my favorite is the Work In Progress cd - sort of wierd 50s / old country sounding tunes for the most part. It's a fun listen.

Some of my favorites .....

Blue Rondos "Little Baby" (sounds like early Roy Orbison)
Paul Kane "My Fair Baby's Coming for Me"
Sharades "Dumb Head"
West Five / Cavaliers "Till I Kissed Ya"
Flip and The Dateliners "My Johnny Doesn't Come Around Anymore"

Johnny Remember Me and My Johnny Doesn't Come Around Anymore are both cheesy but among my favorites.  I play them from the Joe Meek Shall Inherit The Earth  and Let's Go! Joe Meek's Girls comps (CD)

My Johnny Doesn't Come Around is one of my favorites as well
