michael graves wore a glued on devilock and didnt even like punk. a new misfits show is a ridiculously laughable yet insanely depressing cover show where every song is barked out by jerry as the band snores through the music at the exact same tempo to the point where the songs are almost unrecognizable. the band was dez, robo, and jerry, so the show was more like secondary members of black flag doin a shitty misfits tribute set. there was no booze at the show and some dude was sellin candy and sodas. dez had the worst face makeup ive ever seen and i walked out 15 minutes in. when i met jerry only he was wearin a crimson skull hat, crimson skull sweatshirt, crimson skull sweats, crimson skull socks, and crimson skull slippers. he talked like your friends mom in 7th grade. i think its about coffin time for that ghoul.
i also witnessed this lineup and you are exactly right. they even did some black flag covers when i saw them and the sad part was that no one in the crowd knew what was going on besides me and my brother. they all looked really confused, i even heard a guy ask somebody "what misfits song was that?" after one of the flag covers. total shit. on the plus side at that show i found 40 dollars on the ground and my brother found a hundred dollar bill and we kept it all, so that easily gave us our money back and the gas we had spent to get there plus some. i also find it rediculous that anyone would buy some of their new wave misfits merch like a west coast shoppers style sweatshirt with a crimson ghost that says "MISFITS: 20 YEARS OF HORROR PUNK" in a banner over it for 70 dollars or some outrageous price like that. fucking get a life you scum.

i doubt you remember me but i used to live in tucson, az and when you came through with rabies like 2 summers ago me and my brother and some friends were hanging out with you after the show, you were getting ready to go stay at this guy who had glasses and 2 rat-tail dread's house and we were goofing around and then someone yelled GROUP PICTURE so everyone got together and then you said something like "on the count of three everyone seig heil the camera!" and so most of the people did and the picture was taken and then all of a sudden that rat tail dread guy got really serious and was like "fuck you guys, i'm jewish, you can't stay at my house anymore" and walked away. as he was walking away you were trying to convince him that you were jewish as well and that it was just a joke but he wasn't having any of it. it was totally hilarious. i think a bunch of people were also putting stickers that said "save the pines" or some shit all over you van cause there were a bunch of them inside the venue. anyways, i'm one of those kids. we might have traded zines or maybe you just gave me yours, i don't remember, but i remember reading yours later that night and laughing really really hard. i also remember you wearing a hawaiin shirt and some gymn shorts that had destructions end silkscreened on them, and i think a gold chain too? i dunno man, that was a long time ago.

« on: October 14, 2009, 05:47:21 PM »totally agree with todd on the misfits thing. i've been scoffed at more times than i could count for listening to or owning misfits stuff. people are too cool for 'em, usually.
i think that this is probably because they have been very modernized and all the mall punks who buy anything with the crimson ghost logo on it at hot topic don't really know the history behind them, just the terrible jerry only dictatorship band that they have come to be. i like the misfits still too, although i don't really listen to them that much anymore. i even like some danzig songs, but that's probably just from watching old skate videos that have erik ellington in them.

that is fucking retarded (no pun intended). in most cases when a punk band plays electric and then decides to go acoustic it is the worst. i had the misfortune of being at a kevin seconds acoustic show this past summer and it was so awful, i hated it so much.
