Non-Music Shit / DAMON ZEX
« on: August 30, 2011, 12:35:37 PM »

Last night I was totally Zex-ified...

1. damon zex

Cult hero of 1990's cable access, based out of Columbus, Ohio. His show featured depraved sex scenes as well as computer-altered shots of his head as he lamented pop-culture and the decline of western civilization.
Was a guest on Howard Stern, Sally, and Jerry Springer to later prove that just because you're a mass media figure does not necessarily make you smarter than your audience.

Damon Zex caught my eye as I was watching tv and came across the episode of his show where he was eating the used tampon out of his girlfriend!

Non-Music Shit / Digital SLR advice
« on: August 16, 2011, 07:55:12 AM »

I'm looking for the best deal on a digital SLR.   Does anyone have any advice?  Canon vs. Nikon?  Recommended vendors?  Is it fine to get refurbished or should I just get new?

I have a pretty nice Nikon zoom lens from a Nikon N70 film camera I got new in 1998 or so.  Would this work on a Nikon digital SLR?  If so, would it make the most sense just to get a Nikon body?

Silent Barn is a really awesome diy all ages music venue / art space in Queens, New York.  I used to live there, as well as Rachel (abusive_husband) and Kevin (k.).   Many of you on this board who are in bands have played there and/or crashed there after a show.  Many of you have also been there to see great bands play.

The following statement was released a couple days ago:

Quote
This weekend has been incredibly heartbreaking for all of us at The Silent Barn. On top of many issues that we?re currently dealing with, over the weekend our house was completely ransacked.  About $15k worth of audio equipment, house projects and personal belongings are gone.  The violence to the space is almost as upsetting as the theft.  Doors were ripped off of hinges, furniture ripped to shreds, and everything in the space strewn about in a sea of debris. We?ve lost 7 years worth of accumulated equipment, tools, and artwork donated and built by individuals from every end of the scene?s spectrum, and we?re still reeling with what this means for our own lives and the future of the space.  We need your help to continue.

Thank you for your concern over the last few days. It means as much to us as the space itself.

- Castle Oscar, Momma, Kunal, Lucas, Nat, Jordan, James, Joe

On top of being robbed and vandalized, they had also been dealing with issues with the fire department/ fire codes.  They now would like to focus on rebuilding the space, getting a new sound system and bringing the building up to code to make it a viable space.

If anyone would like to help out or see details about the project, go here:

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / Hatefuck 7" available
« on: July 11, 2011, 05:26:39 AM »
Please help to support Pink Reason's 2 1/2 month tour through Europe & Russia by purchasing this PR related project.

Hatefuck - Rock 'n Roll Letdown 7" (Negative Guestlist) - 8$ US / 13$ World

First official release from Hatefuck, wherein lies an embryonic Pink Reason. The Hatefuck crew (HFK) existed in the early 2000's, their legacy left in a number of legendary live shows and a handful of demo recordings, from which these tracks were decalcified. 'Rock 'N' Roll Let Down' contains three cuts of amphetamine hardcore. A side ?When Time Takes Over? is a long rock-based tune that necessitated the 33RPM run time speed. The flip offers three faster cuts, from the high octane punk of ?HWY 10? to the Stoogoid rumble of ?Little Girls Make the World Go Round? .

Non-Music Shit / Independent record LABEL day - 2011
« on: April 17, 2011, 08:09:16 AM »
I hereby pronounce Monday, April 18th independent record label day.  Make an order directly from an independent label.  It's like the 'cyber monday' equivalent to RSD's 'black friday'.

Non-Music Shit / WHAT'S TINA EATING TODAY?
« on: April 09, 2011, 01:39:16 PM »
So since coming to Wisconsin I've been trying all these weird new things like cheese curds (liked em!),  not drinking/doing drugs (didn't like it), driving on the highway (kinda liked it), yoga/exercise on reg basis (totally like it).

I've been a vegetarian since age 14, so over half my life now that I'm pushing 30.  Although I did start eating fish five or six years ago, so whatever that makes me.  But I wasn't the kind of vegetarian who would cheat a little, like eat a hamburger when they get drunk or whatever.   I literally hadn't had a bite of meat in 16 years -- the thought of doing so was actually pretty repulsive to me.

Well, I've been all about trying new things so I've started re-evaluate my veggie stance.  With summer around the corner and cook-out season nearing, is it even possible to be a vegetarian in the state of Wisconsin?  Also, I'm going to be touring in Europe for a couple weeks this summer and I've been told that it's extremely difficult to be vegetarian over there.  Is there truth to this?

SO FUCK, I just tried it.  I ate hot chicken wings.  A bunch of them!  I felt empowered, FUCK THIS VEGGIE SHIT, I thought, I'M A MEAT EATER NOW!

Until today, I woke up with a bit of eaters remorse.  I don't know that I did the right thing.  I don't really want to start eating meat.  It's just not me.  Plus I worry that if I start eating meat I will start eating a bunch of gross shitty food and get really fat.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?  Is it possible to be a vegetarian during the summer in Wisconsin?  Is it possible to tour Europe and not eat meat?   At this point I'm thinking that last night was a one time mistake.  I tried it.  Didn't like it.  Things go back to normal non-meaty now.

Music Shit / new Pink Reason stuff
« on: December 19, 2010, 01:10:40 PM »
I have the benefit of getting first listen and can vouch that both the new 7" that just came out on Almost Ready and the album that will be out in a couple months on Siltbreeze both sound amazing. Desperate Living EP was recorded recently by Ben Greenberg w/ a full live band.  Three songs including a V3 cover on the B side.  You can order it now... http://terminal-boredom.com/forums/index.php?topic=30297.0

And I can't wait for all of you to hear the full length Shit in the Garden... the follow up to Cleaning the Mirror on Siltbreeze.  I think March or April?  The wait is almost over!
