Non-Music Shit / Keeping records even in an expedit
« on: May 18, 2014, 02:37:56 PM »
I'm sure this has been addressed but I didn't want to look through all the pages of the record shelving threads...

How do you keep your records from getting pushed back into your expedit?  Any easy/cheap DIY tricks?   They are against a wall so I'm not talking about falling out the back.  I'm just a bit of a neat freak and like all the spines to be even in the front.

I put on Leonard Cohen- Songs from a Room first thing this morning, and my 2 year old goes "No, no, NO!... THIS ONE!" and handed me this to put on:

What is the best way to track business expenses, inventory, profit, etc?  Do most people use QuickBooks or some other program?  This is for a very small venture but I've found it increasingly difficult to stay organized.  How do you guys do it?!?

Okay I felt like I had a clear idea of Brunchers, but now I'm not so sure.

At first I thought you were talking about "trendy", "hip" young professional types.  You know, the ones where there isn't actually an edgy bone in their body.  Find out about new music on NPR.  Would go see Yo La Tengo play at a museum or something.  Might have heard of some of the DIY show spaces but probably would never go to one.  They have black frame glasses and brew their own beer and are known as the cool one around the office.

But then now it seems more like you guys are describing the run of the mill Williamsburg hipster.  People that never work but always seem to have plenty of money.   When they aren't hanging out at the coffee shop or the bar they are working on their art.  They know of all the warehouse show spaces and frequent them.  They have a lot of time to invest in researching the "latest coolest new bands" and lots of money to invest in the latest in bohemian fashion.

Which of these people is BRUNCH?  Are they both BRUNCH?

Since when did "bruch" become a "hip" thing? My memories of brunch from childhood all revolve around going to the banquet room at Holiday Inn with my folks so we could watch someone make an omelet in front of us. I guess in the early 80's the room may have had some leftover props from the Mad Men era, and a burnt orange color scheme, but I don't think Gen X'ers had invented Irony yet by that point.

In fact, when I go visit my grandmother, it's often over brunch, to this day, which is traditionally a major place my grandmother meets the family. The only "hip" you get there is hip replacements.

What's next supper clubs and Friday Night Fish Frys instead of going out to the bar or hitting up a show?

Are you joking?! All your time living in Williamsburg and you never noticed brunch as a hip thing?  I mean... geez....you lived across the street from Roebling Tea Room even!

Brunch is going strong here in cbus too.  Remember when we were looking for a place to eat in German Village that Saturday? And all the places had lines out the door?  That is brunch.   And we ended up just going to Max & Erma's.  That is not brunch.

So what is Brunch Rock in relationship to Loft Pop?  There seems to be some crossover at the very least.

Forgive me if this has already been addressed.

Love Cassavetes... I'll second Shadows.  Also if you're into his style I recommend checking out Maurice Pialat.

Nothing presently but past ventures have included:

Girls on Bikes (2006)
??? (1996) - pronounced "huh?"
Wild Horses (1992) - most awesomest

Just found the airbrushed tshirt for my first band in 92 and we were actually called Wild Riders.
