In most European countries you can drink in public, even on public transport.

Scamdinavia is, as a whole, ridiculously expensive for alcohol, I found that out too. It all hit home when I paid something like $16 Australian dollars for a fucking beer. I nursed it like a sick kitten. But here in Berlin, I can grab a half litre beer for under one Euro, and that pleases me to no end ...

There are bars with decent prices in Scandinavia. At least in in Sweden and Denmark. I usually go to bars were you pay around 3 euros for a big beer. But its wise to ask around. Otherwise you might get surprises like above. But you must have bought some fancy imported beer i guess? 16 australian dollar is 10 euros. Thats insane. Even for scandinavian standards

Tell me about it. Norway is even worse, I almost had to cash in my superannuation fund to get drunk ... a good place to get drunk cheap? Anywhere in Poland. $6 (Australian) had me rolling about on the floor and attempting to befriend the techno-loving skinheads in some bar underneath an Electro Shock Therapy clinic.

Bis Aufs Messer is a great shop, lots of garage, thrash, hardcore, indie, noise etc, and the guys are real nice. Yellow Dog is also nearby, but I haven't been yet, although I hear it's great. Vopo is a little limited, true, but not bad.

The flea market at Mauerpark has loads of record stalls, if you're patient you can find gold; if anything though, it's goood people watching.

As for bars, I mostly go to Baiz Cafe, one of the last left wing bars on Torstrasse ... crusty and cheap, but I like it. Wild at Heart isn't bad, there is a Tiki bar as someone mentioned, but they also have a nice bar where the bands play. Admittedly, these days is mostly rockabilly but I did catch the Adolescents there last year, or the year before or ... whatever.

Lokal is sadly gone, that place was great (saw SEX/VID there), White Trash has some good bands on now and then but mostly is a total pose. Punk bars that aren't too bad would be Das Franken, or Trinkteufel ... both are in Kreuzberg.

K?pi has lots of good bands playing there, although things seem to be a bit slow right now.

And American Cheeseburger are here in November .... niiiiiiiice.

First thing I could think of, right off the bat, was 'Let the Right One In', and I see people here are already calling it's praises. I loved it too; I find it hard to come across films these days that are creepy and unbelievably sweet at the same time. I'm not sure if it was because I hadn't smoked that much weed in a long time until that night but hell, my eyes were watering like mother fuckers.

To that though, I add:

Oldboy
City of God
28 Days Later (no snickering bitch, I loved it and gy!be were in the soundtrack ... eat it)
The Proposition
The Life Aquatic
The Devil and Daniel Johnston
Dead Man's Shoes ("Whotchu staerin' aht, eh?" "YOU, YA CUNT" aaah ha ha ha, wild)
Control, and the Joy Div doco was good too, so thought I

and .... well. I have to think a bit more on that.

Oh man, a friend of mine has a copy of 'Skinhead Girls' at home, but he wouldn't let me borrow it for some unknown reason. That, and he has bars on his windows.

Goddamn man, I'm on a real B&E tip today .... and ... why is that?

whoever bootlegged the sampler is incredibly thorough... rice paper and the stickers!

I want. Where do you live, and between which hours are you normally out of the house?

I have no messages, none are new. I find that to be quite punk. It's like, "Oooh, don't send him private messages, he's too punk".

Pebbles Volume 1.

It's very nice and almost makes me want to dance, despite my total lack of rhythm.

I'm a third way through 'From Joy Division to New Order', a fairly self explanatory title but it's more focussed on Tony Wilson, Rob Gretton and the Factory thing. I'm liking it. Although, I fear once I hit the Happy Mondays era, I'm gonna shelve it.

The stuff about Martin Hannett is a riot though.

Bah ha ha, welcome to my world.

I'm pretty sure I constructed this world out of roaches, used condoms, and safety pins, but I appreciate the salutation.

I built mine from religious guilt, self hatred and a insatiable taste for self destruction. And cardboard.

It's not like I didn't already hate soccer, but since I've been living in Germany and the World Cup is on ...... aaaaaaahhh. Hand me a fucking box cutter.

TETRIS, MOTHER FUCKER. No shit, it's included on our TV box thing, I found while pissfarting around on it. It's worse than heroin, or, solitaire on heroin.

Although, our TV remote is going through batteries like no one's business.

That and I can't get off Left for Dead 2.
