I'm thinking of switching to an iPhone now that Verizon's got 'em. How much music does it hold? Is it enough that I can replace the Nano?
The smallest-capacity iPhone = the largest-capacity Nano (8GB), and you can get up to 32GB iPhones. Mine's 16GB and will hold 800-900 songs, a mix of mostly lossless CD rips and WAV files I've digitized from vinyl, and a few dozen lower-rez MP3s thrown in. I'm no Apple catamite, but I am damned fond of the iPhone.
Not tryna derail the thread, but I'm curious if you have a recommended vinyl-digitization technique? Would love to get some of my wax suitable for portable listening. I've done a little bit of recording mixer output to Audacity (cuz it's free) but the sound is a bit out of whack. Could just be bad settings, tho'... anyways, recommendation appreciated!
How do you mean, "out of whack"? Cause I was using Audacity a little while back and had problems after a while. First 15 records or so came out fine, but then it all went to shit. I thought it was my shitty cheap USB turntable, maybe it just needs a new needle but the pitch seems to shift all over the place. Sounds like that DN song 'Beg to a Vile Nude' all the time, which is fine
when it's supposed to but ... anyway.
My wife got me a Archos 3 Vision a couple years back, I think they're an English company. Nice little 8GB thing that I've loaded to the tits, the touch screen is a bit iffy but overall I love it. Only thing I find annoying is all mp3s I ripped on my old Mac won't work.
I don't change the playlist much, lately I added some Dawn of Humans, Fuck on the Beach and the download of Jay Reatard's Matador Singles, some Lightning Bolt, Warzone Womyn, Zero Boys, Extortion's
Loose Screws 10". I should throw on all this Kool Keith/Dr Dooom shit I recently dug up. Nah, maybe later ...
