I was just crankin' some Cosmic Psycho's Go The Hack on the way to work.

I haven't heard anyone use the verb "crankin" for quite some time although, I do live in a foreign country.

But I digress, fucking great album. Fucking great band. Nice choice. May I add, the Cosmic Psychos were the first 'real' band I saw at the tender age of 17, got in with a fake ID no less. Last time I saw them was post-Robbie Watts-mortem with the guitarist from the Onyas, bliss-ter-ring.

THANK YOUR MOTHER FOR THE RABBIT.

Non-Music Shit / Re: What video game are you playing?

I got an evaluation copy of Manhunt 2 for the PC last week ... admittedly I was a little disappointed with it, compared with how much I loved the first one on the PS2. Sprites are for me way too big and overall the graphics are fucked up, but in essence it's still good, clean, squirmish fun. I'm actually a little surprised at how much I'm playing it.

As a pretty easy-going person, I still sometimes after a shitty work day need to do things like chop people's heads off with a shovel or, I don't know, open someone's esophagus up with a bit of broken glass. It keeps me in check.
Yea the second one really had to many guns in it. I liked the first one alot but the guns in the second one killed it for me cause it was alot less of a hide in the shadows and stab people kind of game.

Yeah, that spoiled it a bit for me too. I liked that whole waiting in the shadows with sweaty palms and a plastic bag, waiting for that perfect moment to slip out of the dark and fuck that person up. Shame really.

Some of the executions are fun though, and I like the interactive actions you have to perform with the mouse for each stage of said execution but overall .... hmmm. Could have been far better. The story is pretty pissweak too.

Is the PC version censored too? The "original" executions are pretty fuckin' grim!

My copy isn't.

There are also "environmental executions", where you can kill someone using items in the surrounding area ... ie you can beat someone to death with a manhole cover and then shove the corpse down the hole. That one was kinda funny. I also converted a dude into mincemeat by shoving him into what looked like a printing press or something. I used to work in a printing company and I'd be lying if I said that thought hadn't already crossed my mind once or twice.

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: Anyone coming through Europe this year?

Mark of the Beast, where in Europe are you located? This thread is for Scandinavia shows, if it's any help.

Berlin. Scandinavia is a little out my reach but thanks anyways ...

greifswalder strasse used to be in east berlin... can't possibly be the street in the video.

True, I stand corrected.

Damn, they're really good ... why haven't my local friends told me about them before? I gotta hit the Mauerpark flea market next week and see what I can dig up. Double copies get shipped back to the comrades back in Oz. Ha ha, the table trashing was pretty funny, and I think I spied Greifswalderstrasse in the Macht Kaputt clip ... used to live on that street. Good times.

Yeah, it's 2011 and yeah, I want to see Wire and UK Subs.

I saw Wire in the early 00's and they were great but everyone I know (including long time fans) who saw them within the last couple of years told me they sucked.

As for UK Subs, I'll see them next month but I'm actually going to the show to see The Vibrators more than them.

Thanks anyway, but I'll take my chances ... that's funny, I guess it all boils down to personal taste but I'm going next month just for the Subs. For some reason the Vibrators never sat well with me. Eh.

Speaking of retirees, saw Gang of Four at the Berlin Festival last year and they shamed the shit out of every 20/30-something hipster haircut sharing the bill. Awesome.

When you say "more", is that on an intercontinental bent? Perhaps you should do the Deep Sleep support in Europe this year ... you know the one, the tour I just found out about 15 minutes ago. RIOT.

Yeah, it's 2011 and yeah, I want to see Wire and UK Subs. Call it a waste of time and money if you want but I'm just taking up opportunities that I wouldn't get in my home cunt-ary. And of all the UK punk milieu from back in the day still playing today, the Subs beat shit out of all the others. IMO anyways.

But thanks for the tips so far, Tyvek should be fun, charged for Deep Sleep, Meat Puppets and Social Circkle. Cheers. I'll check out the yet-to-me-unknowns and if it floats, I'll go see it.

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Anyone coming through Europe this year?
« on: January 19, 2011, 06:20:29 AM »
So does anyone know of any band of worth touring Europe this year? I've been checking my regular wells of knowledge to get my Kalendar of Events For This Year on, so far a whole bunch of fuck all. Apart from a couple of decent local shows, Wire in March, and I should probably go see UK Subs in February before Charlie Harper takes his inevitable dirt nap, it's looking pretty bleak. OK OK, so it's early, but can anyone hand me down some tidbits?

I've enjoyed all of the Alexandre Aja fims I've seen, and this one is my favorite to date.

Someone gave me a copy of that a while back ... admittedly I laughed myself silly when Daddy got his head knocked off with the cupboard, but once I got the twist I had questions. For example: chase scene through the forest ... um ... who ... is driving ....... the chase car then? Maybe I need to watch it again, perhaps I missed a couple things, who knows? Really though, head in stairs + sliding cupboard = repeated viewings.

That's your favourite jpeg? Really? You should come pay me a visit in Berlin, I'll take you down to Wedding or Marzahn for the day, you'll be tripping over all the people in pants like that. If we're lucky, you'll see a group of three or more dudes decked out like that. For reals. And for free they'll kick both our asses for giggling.

Yeah, the weather here in Germany was shite, all transport hit a major standstill (trains, planes and automobiles). Bad moods were like confetti at a ticker tape parade. All over the shop.

I sent mail back to Australia that normally should have arrived before Christmas, turned up last week or something.

I saw the trailer for Snowtown yesterday, and as a person that grew up about 10 minutes drive away from there, I'm busting a nut to see it (I just pray it gets released in Germany), so I can jump up and down in the cinema and scream "HOLEY SHIT I TOOK A PISS BEHIND THAT BANK AFTER PLAYING FOOTY, BAAH HA HA HA". Actually no really, I truly wanna see it, because that whole case is just fucked up like you wouldn't believe.

I have friends that work in the South Australian prison system and they all say, there was no acid in those barrels. Twas pickling fluid.

Like they say: "There's no town like Snowtown".
