Friendship destroys labels. Mr denkinger calls such music friend rock. Friend rock occurs when you put out a record because a friend asked you to and you lack the balls to say No or because you think that because you now have decent distribution and people will buy your records that you might as well help a friend's band. Very noble but the label's responsibility is to the people who buy your records and then to the bands that are on the label to do a good job and to pay what you agree on. You thin your quality by doing friend rock and thus screw over your label's fans and the bands that are on the label by releasing sub-par crap and developing a rep of putting out sub-par crap, which means people think twice about buy any record you put out. I don't put out records by people that I am friends with. I do become friends with people I put out records by but that is a biproduct of putting out a record. And that also is no guarentee that I will put out another record by them.  It seems like these principles are quite obvious if you want to put out good records. If your aim is to please your friends, oral sex is much cheaper.

I talked to him at length yesterday, and secured a show for March 10th. He's a swell guy just getting better from a bunch of bullshit associated with surgery. Timmy Vulgar was being a douche to him, and he got rightfully pissed off. Eh, shit happens. But shows go on!

We heard back from the owner of Linneman's and apparantly he didn't think there was an incident.  He just didn't want "some jerk spitting paint all over my club" so he kicked 'em out.  End of story.  The shows will continue to happen.

Also:  That was my fifth time seeing Human Eye, and they've never really been destructive at all.  I didn't book the show, but they're not a band I would necessarily warn a club about.
