If you think American beer is shit, you don't really know that much about beer. Sure, i'd be willing to say that European beer is better on the whole, but there are people in America who make really amazing beer that can compete with the best. You can't buy it at 7/11, but it's out there.

It would be totally insane to drink cheap American beer in Amsterdam though

You sure he was drinking the American Budweiser, and not the real Budweiser Budvar from Czechoslovakia, which is a good beer (sold in the US as Czechvar)?

Belgian beer is so inexpensive in Amsterdam compared to here, that it doesn't make sense to drink much else.  Of the local stuff there, I really like the Amstel Bock, a dark beer they don't import here.  Fancy beer stores had some quality American microbrews like Rogue, but they were more expensive then the Belgians.

I can't remember if it was budvar or busch
Maybe i was too hasty saying american beer is shit, i don't have too much knowledge on american beers, but uk on really imports millers and coors and i don't like either much
But i just though when in rome.
Yeah Amstel Bock is really nice that's what i was drinking. It's pretty good too cuz they do import it to the uk.
