Second on KDVS. Good stuff gets lots of play there. Over the air and on-line 24/7!

Non-Music Shit / Re: Turntable/Stereo Bass Cancellation - Help Please
« on: September 04, 2010, 07:25:00 PM »
Are your speaker wires switched? Rcas in right?

If it's not a belt drve tt, I'd guess your motor is burnt

The speaker wires are not switched, that was the first thing I checked and double checked.

My current "fix" is to select the "Virtual Dolby" option on the receiver and the bass jumps back in,

This sounds like a problem with the receiver, not the turntable - if it was the turntable, you would not be able to fix it by changing a setting on the receiver.  Do you get the same behavior with another source input, like a CD or DVD player?

CDs and DVDs sound fine. I've just hooked up some thrift store speakers (real heavy wooden speakers) and it seems to sound better. It may be the tiny bookshelf speakers and subwoofer that are part of the stereo system? I'll try the Command Stereo calibration record soon and let you know if the new speakers really make a difference.

Non-Music Shit / Turntable/Stereo Bass Cancellation - Help Please
« on: September 03, 2010, 02:25:54 AM »
I've tried searching the internet, but have not really had luck finding an answer. I know some of you guys have knowledge with turntables and receivers and stuff so I hope you can help. I really don't want to join AudioKarma or some audiophile site just to ask a question so I'm trying here...

When playing lp's, the bass is canceled out. If I turn the balance to the left or right only, the sound is full and the bass is clear, but when I center the balance, the bass and low end just disappear. I've even tried playing one of those Command Stereo Calibration test lp's and I get the same thing. Some lp's seem to play fine, maybe they are mono?

My current "fix" is to select the "Virtual Dolby" option on the receiver and the bass jumps back in, but I would prefer to fix the problem and hear a more true version of the sound, than add some fake surround sound or concert hall/dolby enhanced version. I tend to try to listen to music with no EQ, to try and hear it as close to the original mix as I can. Is this a ground issue or do I need a standalone phono amp?

I am using a Technics SL-D202 and a Sony stereo receiver with a phono input and ground. Any suggestions?

Also, my turntable speed wobbles just a little bit, esp. when playing at 45 it seems to lunge forward very slightly few seconds, 33 seems to be pretty solid. I have to adjust the speed every time I switch from 33 to 45 and back and the pitch adjustment wheel is super sensitive, should it be? If I turn it it goes WAY fast or WAY slow so I just kind of tap it to give it a micro adjustment until it settles into its speed. Can the wheel be cleaned to fix the problem and would it smooth out the speed problems if I put some oil on the record platter?

Thanks for reading...

Who's the drummer in the mask? When is this from? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated...

Masks are still available by the way. I've got a few masks where the paint job ain't so good, $10 plus shipping. Consider these the Ross/Marshalls quality masks. If you want, I'll paint it all black and you can pretend your Frank and follow Donnie around. PM or email me for these. Thanks!

Would love to see throngs of little kids wearing these all over the place.

Me too! Let's make it happen!

It would be great to see kids busting shit up and terrorizing people around town like that Aphex Twin video.

Pick 'em up on tour from the rabbit/man himself, but if you can't make one of the live shows (you're missing out...) you can pick up your very own mask right here!

I made some NOBUNNY "Fiend" masks for his tour and wanted to offer some up here. They look like this:

What's behind the mask?

all based on this of course:

NOBUNNY should have some for sale on tour, so please pick one up from him if you're going to check him out soon. If he's not coming to your town or he already passed you by, here's your chance to pick one up...

These are vacu-formed "Ben Cooper/Collegeville" style halloween masks made of plastic with an elastic cord and they are each individually made by me, so expect fun not perfection.

$20ppd in the US. $15 each additional. Outside the US, e-mail me first on shipping. Contact me if you want to pay by money order.

PayPal or questions to sonikvideoATnetscapeDOTn et

Thanks!
