Cities / Re: NYC - LIC and Brooklyn Areas

if you're in LIC, you'll be near ps1.  a recent exhibition is being deinstalled now, so there will be very little art up.  but their bookstores (there are 2) are fucking excellent.  art mags, foreign high-brow mags, zines, small press weirdo stuff, etc

sunday NYtimes is definitely the thing to read at brunch, but what about the new yorker?  maybe articles are too long to read during the  meal, but it is lurking somewhere.

i think all brouncheosie home hosted brunches must have a stack of back issues in plain view, NOT anywhere near the can.

i've been to charleston twice.  while i've really enjoyed the food, weather and slow-paced living i have never found any record or bookstores of note.

was there on tour in 2010 and there seemed to be a small, vibrant scene at the time, but the people i knew have moved away.

curious to see if anybody else chimes in here with some good info.  i can recommend some eats, if you want.

oozing wound - retrash

1/2 of cacaw from chicago form thrash band.  this absolutely rips!   the drumming is ridiculous and the riffs really hit the sweet spots.  somewhat tongue-in-cheek which is usually not my thing, but try it.

I finally started reading Luc Sante's Low Life. Man, fuck Mike Bloomberg.

i have been intrigued by this book, but haven't picked it up.  is it a straight-up historical/research-based/non-fiction read?

VU
ramones
black flag
stooges
sonic youth

nobody else willing to rep sonic youth on this one?  1984-1990 run is one of the most solid of all time.   suicide and slayer are good ones, but i couldn't pull the trigger on top 5.
