Music Shit / Re: Given a choice
« on: January 16, 2008, 03:59:38 PM »
Defienitely my 77 Euro and Spanish punk collection.  Anything from The Kids, Stiff Little Fingers, Slaughter and the Dogs, Undertones to La Banda Trapera, Eskorbuto, Espasmodicos, and Ultimo Resorte.

In between all of that I would throw in some proto-punk (Modern Lovers, 13th Floor..., Stooges, Gizmos, etc.), psychedelic (Groundhogs, Three Souls in my Mind, Black Sabbath) and some 69 ska and reggae shit.

I have a multiple mood mental disorder as you can see.

Used Records For Sale/Auctions/Wantlists / Re: All Skrewed Up

This is an awesome album  All Skrewed Up still is a constant in my DJing repertoire.  I recommend you look it up on either Ebay or Gemm.  A reissue is widely available.  Even as idiotic as Ian Stuart's vocals sound (and eventually just are) I think this is what actually adds to the rawness and awesomeness of this album.

Non-Music Shit / Re: the OFFICAL 2008 NASCAR THREAD!!!

After shooting up a speedball of heroin and meth, watching NASCAR and listening to the Velvet Underground for 4 days straight has probably been the most fun I've had since the last time I had sex.  And that last time I had sex was pretty damn fun.

For Johnny Knoxville being the lead role, it's actually pretty good.  I grew to respect him a little bit more after watching this movie.  The movie is good, not memorable, but you won't be dissapointed.

Non-Music Shit / Re: what are you reading?
« on: December 19, 2007, 05:20:58 PM »
Right now, I'm reading Eskorbuto: Historia Triste.  This one is about one of the best (but totally underrated) Spanish punk bands of all time.  It's made up of interviews, memoirs, eyewitnesses, and editorials.

I believe it's only in Spanish.

Music Shit / Re: The most memorable show you saw in 2007

The Stooges in San Francisco...then followed by the Touch-me-Nots the following Sunday.  Both shows were awesome.

Last June, Radio Birdman at the Casbah.  Got to see them when they were literally playin a few inches from me.  Just mindblowing.

The Toy Dolls.

Annoying as hell.  The whole nerd image with the annoying voice isn't cute, catchy or fun.  These fifty-somethings should have grown up about 25 years ago.

I was raised pretty closed to the Mexican border, so I had the privilige of consuming some pretty weird cuisine.  I could think of "tacos de tripa" (cow intestine tacos).  Sting ray stew with shrimp and veggies is also common delicacy in my hometown, and I have not heard of anywhere else where this may sound tasty (although it is).  More examples include beef brain tacos, beef eye tacos, beef's head tacos, and pretty much tacos made out of the rest of the cow.

Music Shit / Re: Most hated song ever

I can't believe nobody mentioned Morrissey/The Smiths.  Every single hardcore fan of this asshole that I've met is a total douchebag and a retard.  What sucks is that back in  my hometown, everybody that deemed themselves knowledgeable in music liked this shit.  I guess if I had to choose one song that just makes me want to puke is "I'm so sorry" (or whatever it's called) by Morrissey.

Anything by Metallica post Cliff Burton sucks too.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Worst music venue in town

Canes in San Diego.

Even when they book good bands (very few times) they just can't seem to brush off the Hurley and sandal wearing drunk surf jocks.  Drinks are expensive, and their beer selection sucks.  Also, they never charge under 10 bucks cover and it's very obvious the bands are getting none of it.  There are also bouncers just waiting for someone to make any movement "that could lead to a mosh pit" to kick them out.  It sucks to say this, but that's just what happens when you have a venue right next to the beach.

Bill Moseley as Otis in both "House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects".  Nothing beats a nasty, sick, twisted, backwoods redneck psycho.

I have a long scar across the top of my head from  a recent reconstructive facial surgery (broken orbital bone), which I had to get after taking a kick to the face during a kickboxing sparring session.

Needless to say, it's been a few months since I've kickboxed.
