Oh, for English writing--Flann O'Brien, the Third Policeman, is good.

Dostoevsky is a genius.

right, but people still take suboxone to get high. after awhile it doesn't seem to work anymore.

the heroin won't work. it makes buying/doing heroin pointless. you can still get high on suboxone... for a little while, at least. methodone is much worse.

there.

Honestly, the line I've always heard about that shit was the same as the one the guy you ripped into said, that amphetamines have the opposite effect on someone with said 'chemical' problem or whatever. I always thought the main problem was over-diagnosis because big pharma wants to sell more speed.

So the whole medical analysis is bunk? I read an article yesterday written by a doctor who said now days, reading the medical information about a new drug is like reading the latest mystery novel, so it wouldn't surprise me.

I just read a bunch of shit about Suboxone, which some friends of mine are prescribed to. It's this new wonder drug that's supposed to replace methadone. Suboxone is marketed in sublingual tablets that also feature Nalaxone which is what they use when you OD from opiates. When injected it instantly knocks the opiates off of your receptors causing you to go into immediate withdrawl.... supposedly... if this were true, I wouldn't be hearing reports from junkie friends about "oh yeah, that's shit's cool cause you can shoot it."

But sure, people are free to believe what ever Big Pharm tells 'em. In fact, maybe they'd like to try some of this Prozac.

there are different variations for what's in suboxone, but that's not how it works. it doesn't cause immediate withdrawal either, it keeps you from going into withdrawal. also, it renders opiates ineffective--so, if you take heroin and you've got suboxone in your system, it won't really work.
