Just watched the 1960 BnW cineplay Connection, a both pitiless and hilarious look at hipster heroin use. The jazz with Jackie McLean is great but only secondary to the twisted familiar personalities who wander through this one room world.

If my friends didn?t make the first self-conscious lo-fi record, then the Fall did with Dragnet, only next to Hex Enduction as their best. First spoke to him while Husker Du was playing the loudest set ever in 1982, and then again in 1986 when we had the honor to open up for them. For a genius he was a regular guy.

Protomartyr sounds like Interpol getting busted in their van by Mass cops. Parquet Courts may be good if it's possible anymore. Mystic Inane is hardcore of my dreams. Plagal Grind is Syd Barrett without ambition and better for it. Pink Section is Devo without nerds and too much practice. I can't Australian bands with contractions apart but I love both Kitchens Floors and Shoes This High. Why does the Pop Group lp suck? Only the bass player is singing. Peter Jeffries lp on Ajax is Leaonard Cohen hanging on a note long enough to rid us of the past.
