Music Shit / Re: Wayne Kramer post-MC5

I enjoyed seeing him live a few years back but it was weird. He hung in his bus until he played then went straight back after. I suppose us drunks to have the capacity to contaminate. NPR had a great segment lately about his work with prisoners.

Astral Weeks, Lester Bangs, and cough syrup. The three horsemen.

Spent many a night listening to "Crapping You Negative" before passing out. Labyrinthine like a Tennessee cave.

Album on CDR is the shit. When you say Don 'fucks with things' you're only scratching the surface.

I liked Naked Skinnies better, but they really personify two different eras.

A few other KBDs I saw:
Hammer Damage: great. They opened for PIL of all people. Only downside was singer's striped shirt.
Chronics: good. All I remember is they were serious to the point of uncomfortable. I left before Pagans played because I thought they sounded too much like the Dead Boys!
Baloney Heads: I hated them because I think they hated punk. Local bar band fucking off.
Pistol Whip: Leather jacketed and pretty stereotypical.
Lepers: Nice people into the scene, but mediocre.
Cowboys: My homeboys. Great many a night.
Jetboys: I couldn't deny the catchiness but matching shirts weren't my thing.

Nah but I saw them there what in '79? Maybe early '80. Very cold night in an empty disco bar.

Saw Meaty Buys live back in the day. They won me over with a cover of the Vibrators "Baby Baby".

I loved them live. They put up linoleum wallpaper behind them in the bar and then danced like they were in Alice In Wonderland. My dead friend Mark is on the cover of one of their albums. Thinking Fellers gone too far.

"The Adventures Of Brian Glider" is just a perfect song, a great Fall song with a smirk instead of attitude. And the dude is (was?) a London radio celebrity.

After Meshkalina retires he'll move to Columbus, buy back Larry's, and rename it the Sniper.

Actually Mike kind of looked (and acted) like that handlebar mustache dude from the original when I first met him.

He went down with the revolution. If only he could have lasted until messageboards.

All I know is what I spent is to better serve Brooklyn on May 16.

Craig Marks, formerly of Homestead Records, edited the rag for awhile. They had other decent editors too.
