I was kinda skinny right after I had cancer. Kinda almost. Don't recommend it though.

Flamin' Groovies Home To Roost- proof that Stones fans can out Stone the Stones.
With a wicked Joan Jett on the cover.

Okay, both Real Clear Politics (boxplot of polls) and FiveThirtyEight are now reporting Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio in contention. If you live in any of these states and are considering voting third party to satisfy your own conscience without regard for the structural/constitutional reality of the binary two-party system, cool. Enjoy it. Trump plans to use executive powers to impose over 20% tariffs on China, potentially causing a trade war and bringing us down some notches on Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Start stockpiling seeds. Beyond that, the dysfunctional gridlock that could ensue, the threat of jeopardizing NATO relations, a GOP controlled congress and White House, and more, is something you can look forward to.

I hold both parties in contempt. As a dem apologist who volunteered for Sanders and thinks Hillary is a neoliberal fraud, I still feel it morally incumbent on me to not only vote blue in Florida, but to whip and corral my local coalition. Because if this is real and not some Orwellian/Brechtian theater, Trump is a singular threat to civic institutions we take for granted. He's also riding a very real wave of racist/anti-immigrant sentiment. Redeploy circular firing squad of the left in February when everything's back to normal. In less than 100 days, election will be determined by turnout. Polling stations should make it easier by printing ballots that say "Trump" and "Not Trump."

Thoughts?
Agreed. I voted for John Anderson in 1980 and still feel personal responsible for Reagan

I've had walker bros "nite flights" on a lot lately. anyone wanna school me on scott w.? this is all I'm really familiar with, but i find the left turns he takes from the bowie and roxy ripoff parts enthralling. obviously super into his part of the record, not so much the rest of it
i love my Scott Walker David Bowie duet bootleg. But then again I'm drunk and wandering Boston streets.

Trump scares me enough to think about doing acid again.

I sit on my porch and try to write songs while the zombies march by.

Also listened to the Electric Eels while doing yard work. They went together surprisingly well.

Clif, we're finishing up the Brian McMahon book on the electric eels now, should be out this fall on Hozac Books, can't wait! LOTS of lawnmowers referenced, you're on the right track!
Brian McMahon solo Lp on vinyl?

Anyone know whats up with Cretins of Distortion? Their distro page has been down for a while with a note saying it'd be back June 15.
Matt is at Used Kids Records now. Maybe he's overworked!

TMC played It Always Rains On Sundays last night. Bleak post war tale set in London's East End. Gut wrenching.

Ask The Ages.

Finally got tired of waiting, broke down and bought this on CD.

Worth it.
Love this record. After all the strife in Sonny's earlier efforts; some kind of peace. I blew off seeing him and then he was dead.

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Re: Pere Ubu Coed Jail Tour
« on: July 04, 2016, 06:09:37 PM »
The show was great. Bim played crucial punk and rapped better than I've ever seen him, kind of like Outkast maybe? His banter was hilarious too. Ubu played the songs with the seriousness they deserved, particularly killing it on My Dark Ages and Humor Me, the only important American reggae song. I loved Thomas' between song patter/poetry. It made me feel he really wanted to be there.

Every 3 years I am obliged as an old person to mention I saw Meaty Buys live.

Pretty sure I've known you for at least 3 years and I have never heard this.
Yes my place in Chicago punk history is quite secure. I moved two lesbians there in sub-zero temperatures and saw a club advertising punk. Meaty Buys Saran-wrapped themselves in choice cuts and played a great version of the Vibrators "Baby Baby". Already a Pere Ubu snob I had no idea 37 years later people would care, a little at least. But I also didn't know the one lesbian would become a man in SF and the other would OD at my local Taco Bell.
