Closing down the webstore. I have a kid now and I just moved, so I have no time or space for the label anymore. Had a great run, put out some awesome records, will put out a few more, just probably not on SOD, though who knows, GG King may have other ideas.

Slashed prices on everything, and have some cool Ash Ra Tempel and Celtic Frost bootleg shirts I found in a forgotten box while moving.  We've got the deals of the century goin' over at http://scavengerofdeath.storenvy.com

Thanks to everyone who ordered records, contributed music, wrote about SOD releases (even the shit-talkers), booked bands, or were nice to us. In ATL related news, a GG King lp is coming out late summer, early fall on Total Punk and a Predator LP should follow on the same label later in the year. Nag has an LP coming out on Die Slaughterhaus!

RYAN DINO - CHAPTER ONE: THE FINAL CHAPTER lp
Scavenger of Death Records, Atlanta, GA

Ryan Dinosaur, aka Ryan Bell, known for his work in GG King, Predator, Hyena, and more, has returned after a lengthy absence with a walloping full length to show for it. Chapter One: The Final Chapter is a 40-minute joyride through a wonderland of DIY songcraft that epitomizes the sound Mr. Dino has championed with his label, Scavenger of Death.

Tracked over the course of four years with a revolving door of musicians from some of the best groups out of Atlanta (GG King himself sings on two numbers), this is an immersive document, one human?s idiosyncratic vision of their place in the world. Oscillating between serious and joking, between aggression and introspection, Chapter One rambles through a wealth of punk rock influences: Kiwi-pop jangle, heavy metal worship, soot-black hardcore, and more. If you like your jams apocalyptic and otherworldly, there?s something here for you. If you think life is a joke, there?s plenty here to make you laugh. Includes lyric sheet and digital download.

First 50 copies ordered directly from the label come with a huge 22" x 34" poster. Thanks!

I have a solo record coming out under a ridiculous name. It's the record you never knew you never needed. I posted a few tracks at the link below:

Hope someone enjoys!

HOSPICE S/T CS
A long time in the works, here are 9 tracks from the mind that brought you Predator, the Frantic, NAG, GHB, and more. He's swapped his guitar for an organ and a drum machine and the result meanders from Spits-worship to tracks that would make sense on a Dark Entries release.

Listen here:https://scavengerofdeathrecords.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-3

For anyone who still wants the WASH demo, I have also packaged these two tapes together at a discounted rate. More solo projects are on the way, solo projects are the new bands, etc.

Got 4 new releases up in the webstore!

GG KING - UNENDING DARKNESS LP

In a time of turmoil and trouble, media blitz and the news replaced by numbered lists... a time of ever-lengthier lifespans and shorter attention spans, GG King triumphantly returns with Unending Darkness - the full realization of a midnight vision of dark ambitions and mediocre reality. Mature in the right ways, wonderfully punk in the others. Like an angrier, more effusive Greg Sage discovering nihilism, temporarily possessed by the chattering ghost of Bobby Soxx - and a soundtrack to the two burning non-denominational churches throughout the tame hills of Oregon. A definitively punk album, still gleaning all of the worthwhile parts of black metal and reassembling them, conveying what the French call a certain? I don?t know what.

Featuring a much more lush recording than its predecessor (by collaborator and partner Ryan Dinosaur), UNENDING DARKNESS finds GG King exploring the very metaphysical problems he?s described in passing in previous outings. It could be a concept record detailing the story of a man slowly resigning himself to an untimely end, or an absonsion into monkhood, or a life as a powerpop collector - there is probably no measurable difference in the fates. A rabid and unique taste in low-class music repurposed as something new and transcendent, like the roar of a DeLorean's engine after throwing a bunch of futuristic garbage into the flux capacitor. The sounds of lament, detestation, a charming bitterness. The barks of a neighbor?s dog, cowbells? xylophones. Like smoke billowing from a fire at a sex toy factory - ominous clouds that harken to something so profound and vaguely debaucherous that you feel the need to share it with the world.

Digital Download included. First 100 mailorder copies come with Unending Demos tape, featuring the brilliant overkill of 23 additional minutes of Mr. King and friends.

EVAPORATED BRAIN - DEMO TAPE

Exciting new Atlanta combo helmed by ex Bukkake Boy, Ryan "Dinosaur" Bell (sorry my friend but such high quality work demands a public unmasking), owing more than a small debt to the early musical output of one Tom G. Warrior (both the Hammer and the Frost).  That means dense detuned riffmania propelled by the unlocked power of the TEMPO CHANGE.  "Ripped From The Page", though still quite Frosty, plays more like the psychotic hardcore mastered long ago in exotic locales such as Japan and Finland, presided over by some kind of bellowing cosmic demon.  Five tracks, absolutely no filler.  EVAPORATED BRAIN:  The citizens of Atlanta eagerly anticipate your live debut!

DROPPINGS ISSUE TWO

24 pages of punk writing. The most eloquent fecal references you'll ever read while defecating! Interviews with Una Bestia Incontrolable, Golden Pelicans, Herpes, DIE, and Prank Records, plus reviews, advice, and endless judgment and shitty bathroom humor. Comes with a tape featuring a whole new slew of Atlanta's punk progeny. Digital download included.

DASHER - DEMO TAPE REPRESS

Great ATL demo, we made it available again. Get into it.

We also have GG King shirts, and records from all sorts of ATL acts in there: Slugga, Cheap Art, Wymyns Prysyn, Predator, Gentleman Jesse, Gaye Blades, Ryan Dinosaur, etc.

So, we've several things coming out in the next couple weeks, so I figured I'd post some audio so you guys can hear.

First up is the new GG KING lp entitled UNENDING DARKNESS. 12 tracks, and it's a loong player for sure. Listen to four of the tracks: https://scavengerofdeathrecords.bandcamp.com/album/unending-darkness-2

We also have a metal demo tape from ATL buttrockers EVAPORATED BRAIN. Listen: https://scavengerofdeathrecords.bandcamp.com/album/demo

We remastered and repressed the DASHER demo since so many people were clamoring for it. Music is here: https://dasher2.bandcamp.com/album/yeah-i-know

And we finally got our act together and did some more writing, so issue two of our DROPPINGS zine is ready for perusal. Featuring Interviews with Golden Pelicans, Una Bestia Incontrolable, DIE, Herpes, and Prank Records alongside some ranting, some photos, and some very bad advice. Comes with a great comp tape showcasing Atlanta's emerging punk and hardcore (mostly hardcore) talent.

New Releases For Sale/Distro Updates / SOD Update - Ryan Dinosaur 7"!
« on: March 22, 2014, 02:25:47 PM »
We've finally got two new ones out!

PREDATOR - THE COMPLETE EARTH LP (split-release with State Laughter)

Predator returns with a new full length chock full of balls. The Agnew and Wire influences still figure prominently while the vocals add a sardonic undercurrent that make for a fun listen. Good for pogo-ing or bad trips. 13 tracks, including 5 remixed cuts off of their recent tape. This lp sports a beefy production that finally captures the intensity and attitude of their live set. As always Lyric sheet included, you're gonna want to read along with this one, especially what may be the first anti-skating punk song. Listen at scavengerofdeathrecords. bandcamp.com. This record is also available from State Laughter.

RAPTUROUS GRIEF - FICCI?N CORPORATIVA 7"

Atlanta's premier grinders are back with another slab of rippin' tuneage. Ten tracks with enough core for the meatheads and power-violence tightwads, enough thrash-attack for the heshers, and vocals that kinda remind me of Repulsion. Includes lyric sheet, hope you speak Spanish. Listen at scavengerofdeathrecords. bandcamp.com

You can buy these and other shit (ATL and not) at scavengerofdeath.storenv y.com. Thanks!

Up next for Scavenger of Death is this jammer. A co-release with new Atlanta label State Laughter (run by cranefortune of moderate termbo infamy). 8 songs recorded back in September, 5 songs remixed from last years tape.

Listen here: http://scavengerofdeathrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-complete-earth

Coming out at the same time is a 7" by Atlanta grinders Rapturous Grief, expect that up on the bandcamp soon.

The GG King lp is mixed and will be sent off pretty soon, and the Mercenary lp (which will be split with Grave Mistake) is mostly in the can. Issue two of Droppings is in the works, along with issue 3, which is all ATL content.

Thanks for reading this.

The GG King and Predator LPs are almost in the can, hopefully will be mixed and mastered in the next few months. I know this isn't much of an update, but I figured since our local paper posted a song for the new GG King lp, I would throw it up here as well.

http://clatl.com/cribnotes/archives/2013/07/26/gg-king-returns-with-a-new-lineup#more

Feel free to talk shit to the guy who commented on the article and told GG King to go away. That hurts my feelings.

On Deck: Rapturous Grief (Sick ATL grind band) are doing a 12", and Gary Wrong Group are doing a 7".

We finally got two new releases ready, one from Atlanta's hc doughboys Mercenary, and another a reissue of an old Milwaukee punk jammer. Descriptions are below. You can listen to them on our Bandcamp and buy them in our brand new webstore! Canadians and international customers no longer have to email for simple purchases, but distros and wholesale orders should still contact us at scavengerofdeathrecords AT gmail. Thanks!

SOD-12 Mercenary Demo Cassette
Atlanta HC raw-rager featuring wild riffage, frantic d-beat drumming, and the pummelling heaviness you'd expect from, say, Framtid. Vocals are like a neanderthal's battle cry: intimidating. 6 tracks, including one mid-paced fightstarter. Not quite raw punk, but it's dis close (get it?).

SOD-11 Prosecutors - I've Got A Message 7" Reissue
Straight reissue of a little known punk platter out of Milwaukee circa 1980.  The A-side ("I've Got A Message") is a great lost-in-time punk/hard-rock slow burner with strangely ethereal backup vox that take the song to another level.  The B-side picks up the pace with the rough-but-hooky proto hardcore of "Dead Man" (also sporting those ghostly backups) and the live cut "Prosecution Rests"  (supposedly chosen in place of another studio track due to an insecure drummer).  Some time after this record was released, band leader Kevin "Kinney" Gerard picked up stakes and moved to Atlanta, eventually achieving fame with southern rockers Drivin N Cryin. A scarce record known to fetch megabucks, now it can be yours for a nominal fee (with the even scarcer picture sleeve and insert included).
***Scavenger Of Death trivia fact:  Kevin Kinney is also known to be responsible for  releasing SOD all-star Tyler Kinney (Mercenary, Ralph, Manic, Die  Ficken) into the world.
