new darkthrone album leaked. seems like they excised all remaining elements of crust from their sound and replaced it with hints of panzerfaust era bm and some nwobhm and doom. pretty great stuff.

Bummer...what's a hiking metal punk to do?

I have been listening to Atlanta's Enoch Ramone and the Ebola Boys lately -- as an Atlantan it scratches an itch for the late oughties punk sound that our scene coalesced around. Human Bug definitely has some Bobby Soxx moments. The tracks on their bandcamp are ruined by excessive tape hiss, but the 7" polishes these tracks to a perfectly homespun luster -- an expert mastering job will do that, I guess.

Also NURSE rules -- new tracks on youtube sound great.

Beyond that, I've been listening to the B-side of A Trip to Marineville pretty often, along with the BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! single "Don't Fight it Marsha" --  what a weird track, but I keep coming back to it.

Framtid - Punishment off of their split with Disclose. If everyone quit the sewer-dwelling bondage monster charade and started stacking distortion pedals and bustin' it, maybe America could be great again. Normally I buy American, but no domestic product can compete.

I just want the reissue of Inventions for Electric Guitar to come out. A reissue of the first Ash Ra Tempel lp would be cool, too.

Mine is most def the Solid Space boot that came out a few years ago. Wish the band would allow a legit press, but the boot was superbly done. Would love an Exhibit A collection as well.

didn't SS sell the rights to dark entries?

I'm not sure that deal ever went through.

Anyone here been cornered by someone in a band whose record you've panned?  It happened to me a couple times, but it was usually just drunk whining; no menace.

I did the garbage can maybe a year ago, and I got some email from one of the bands. I am an idiot and a terrible writer, but the guy's response made we wish I had REALLY gone after them.

Most bad reviews are just as insightful as good reviews, meaning that they aren't really insightful at all.
