Scott, any UK stockists for S-S Records (particulatly the 4 new LP's)?

I dont deal direct with any UK stores or distros and my knowledge of stores over there is sketchy. I know that Rough Trade always carries my stuff; whether they reorder it after it sells out, I dont know. In the past Forte, Boomcat, and Volcanic Tongue have had my titles. I assume they get them from Revolver.

If you know of any stores/mail orders that wanna buy direct, have them contact me. I have a minimum order for wholesale but the catalog is big enough that it isnt tough to meet if they are willing to take some chances.

Hard to overstate how great the Life Stinks LP is.  Attitude and vibe for days, sure, but these are really excellent songs that stick to ya.  Entire LP cooks, but tunes like "Your Face Is A Mess" and "My My My" drop jaws.  Best of the year, no question.

I know I have a vested interest in this record, but it really rules. I've been listening to it non-stop all summer. "Your Face Is A Mess" is one of the best songs of the last ten years without a doubt. And not only are the songs great but in an era in which people pass off meh protools/garage band recordings as release worthy, this is one record in which the recording matches the songs. Nothing fancy just a great, immediate, full sound thanks to Mikey Young and Kelley Stoltz.

I am also smitten with the new Spray Paint LP. That and Life Stinks are a good 1-2 punch for the end of the year.

Satan Panonski #3 on KDVS charts!

Here is what Mick Mucus of KDVS's The Chicken Years has to say about it:

Wow, side 1 of this recently released collection of works by the late Yugoslavian punk Satan Panonski is the best shit I've heard in years, straight up. I probably wont listen to side 2 for 1 week to 4 years depending on my ability to overcome fear of disappointment. If you like Rudi peni, GG Allin Cheetah Crome motherf'ers, tampax, or just crazy music and don't mind that it aint in english, I give this my highest recommendation.

Any Italian/european distros carrying these? I'd really like to get the FPE.

I am pretty sure Hate, X-mist, and Forte have these.

Permanents got'em and this is what they have to say

Satan Panonski - Hard Blood Shock

A "best of" collection of sorts from Yugoslavian/Croatian musician/poet Satan Panonski entitled "Hard Blood Shock" compiled by S-S Records. These are some gnarly jams! Panosnki is definitely not one to shy away from extremities (in his stage persona, personal life and his music) and the tunes collected here show a real musical freedom not bound to any real scene. Sure, Panonski's music springs from the punk scene of the Seventies/early-Eighties but that's only a springboard for the variety of expression documented here. KBD ragers sit side by side with more obtuse avant-punk jams with nary the blink of an eye. We can dig it! Another stellar S-S recording! RECOMMENDED!!!

Fottutissima Pellicceria Elsa - Fottutissima Pellicceria Elsa

BRUTAL Italian hardcore from '83 rescued from a demo tape and pressed up onto wax from - who else - S-S Records! This is some crazy shit! Fottutissima Pellicceria Elsa rage unrelentingly from the first needle drop, mixing straight-up brutal, hardcore (a'la GISM or Mob 47) with the more proggy-chops of later-era Black Flag (these guys MAY have the 10 and 1/2, but we're not sure). If there are no dreads or butt-flaps involved in the band we'd be surprised, this is squatter hardcore, unquestionably. The lower fidelity of the recordings (this IS a demo after all, despite the mastering job) makes a few of the tunes sound like full-on powerviolence . KILLER. This one's gonna rattle yer teeth, so you best get some Polident. RECOMMENDED.

BTW- Anyone with an opinion if I need to remaster of the Monoshock "Walk the Fire" album if I got an og? Is the sound that much better?

Of course, I am biased - but I think it would be fair to say that as far as sound goes the reissue is to the original as Ape-like CD is to the original singles. Less mud, more sound without it being stripped clean.

I have a bunch of their records, but the only one which will survive the Great Purge will be Jack the Ripper Lover 7", which is lyrically my favorite because it makes absolutely no sense thanks to their very iffy hold on the English language. Unfortunately, they went from piss-poor ESL student to decent English speakers and their lyrics suffer for it. Better when they struggle to make their point, because their point is inane at best. Also the thicker the accent and the more muddled the delivery the better. Once they got the hang of English, they would have been much better served by switching to their native language or trying to take on Russian or Mongolian than scribe the idiotic shit that they do. I suspect that they avoid singing their stuff in Swedish because they'd be laughed out of the room. And it isnt that they are offensive. More like the subject matter is trite, their attempts to shock are a bit behind the times, and as art/literature it is a dead end. Shock is like sperm, it dies once it hits the air. Granted, they could just be writing for wieners but I doubt it.

Florida's Dying, Goner, Revolver, and Forced Exposure have these. In Japan you can get them from NAT. Dirty Old Records in Croatia will have the Panonski. And of course I have them. Stores/distros/mail orders, I deal direct or you can go through Revolver or FE.
