Greetings from the frozen wastelands of Massachusetts! Painkiller's first release of 2018 has arrived and it's a real beast  ;D

ARMS RACE - THE BEAST EP 7"
ARMS RACE follow up to their ?New Wave Of British Hardcore? LP with four new tracks, which see the band solidify their place as one of the strongest pillars of UK hardcore. Touring Europe and Japan since the release of the LP, these 4 new tracks are yet more proof of why the band leaves a trail of fans whenever they play. ?The Beast? displays a ferocious hardcore attack with both boots firmly planted in hardcore and punk territories while looking forward to new soundscapes on which they evolve, such as the track 'Distort Britannia' that showcases a slowed down, atmospheric stomper. Part classic US hardcore, part Bristol and Stoke On Trent punk, these new tracks are a perfect continuation of what the band has created during these past 5 years.

USA pressing on Painkiller is limited to 500 copies (100 white/400 black).

Order at https://painkillerrecords.limitedrun.com
Listen at https://painkillerrecords.bandcamp.com

The Beast is also available in the UK/EU from http://www.lavidaesunmus.com/shop

Also catch Arms Race in the USA for a few shows around the Damaged City fest!

Upcoming Painkiller releases:
Pure Pressure - Relampago de Furia 7" (new Canadian band with members of SHIT and Violent Future)
Deadlock 7" (USA and UK hardcore luminaries join forces for a raging tribute to Dischord 1-6)
Waste Management - Tried and True 12"

RRHQ went into a little bit of a deep sleep in 2016, but we are back with the first two of many new releases slated for 2017...

SOREX - Portrait of a Prisoner LP

Hailing from Redondo Beach, California, Sorex released just a single 7" EP -- three tracks of no-fi, snotty-yet-abrasive beach hardcore -- in a 200-copy micro pressing in 1985, and played a scant dozen or so shows up and down the California coast before fading into hardcore record collector obscurity.

Radio Raheem's crack team of hardcore archaeologists have since managed to rescue Sorex's elusive EP from the collector ghetto and tack on 17 additional tracks, culled from the band's 1984 demo tape and sessions for a never-released 1985 LP, all accompanied by a 16-page, full-color booklet full of rare photos, flyers and ephemera. Limited to 500 copies.

-------

SMART DADS - Bummer Summer LP

In our humble opinion, San Antonio, Texas' the Smart Dads are the embodiment of lo-fi cassette punk at its finest. This LP contains the only recorded output by this short-lived group of military school misfits, who self-released a 7-track cassette in 1982 with an obnoxious 7'-sized insert, inconveniently housed in an oversized zip-lock bag with a badge clipped to the front. The title track -- or any of the other 6 tracks, for that matter -- would have found the perfect home on Bloodstains Across Texas or any of the Killed By Death volumes, had it made it to vinyl during the band?s original tenure. This record is a testament to what we at Radio Raheem HQ love -- 100% junk, full-on punk, completely sincere, and scarcely heard.

One time pressing of 300 copies complete with 12-page, full-color booklet and silk screened vinyl B-side. Mail order copies include reproductions of the original 1.25" button designs (printed by the Termbo bossman, no less).

-------

Both LP's will be available in the next few days from Sorry State, Grave Mistake, Velted Regnub, Soap and Spikes, Revolver, Revelation, Ebullition, Deathwish and a few others. Boston/Providence people can grab 'em at Armageddon.

On deck we have releases by The Worst (NJ), Acid Attack (UK), Sarcasm (Brooklyn), Insanity (SF), Hellbent (NYC), Against (SoCal), and the NYHC legends The Psychos -- not to mention our first foray into publishing with the long awaited Matinee photo book by Drew Carolan, and Tri-X Noise, a collection of photos by Texas legend Bill Daniel. Both of those should be up for sale soon with exclusive mail order-only special editions. More details on both soon!

NYC HEAD HUNTERS - The Rage Of The City 7"
"New Breed" style NYHC has now been entrenched as a stylistic mainstay for hardcore bands longer than the original Lower Eat Side heyday actually lasted, and it will probably remain that way as long as hardcore continues to be a means of expression for young people. But while plenty of bands continue to dip into that plentiful well, few do it as well as NYC Head Hunters, who have an uncanny knack for knowing the right times to dress things up and when to dumb them down. Comprised of personnel from the Rival Mob, Step Forward, and plenty more, and backed by the expected, period-appropriate production, NYHH debut 7" manages to tap the vein of raw late 80s NYHC without sounding rote or tired 30 years after the fact. Not retro, just timeless.

First 200 on green vinyl for mail order

BREAKDOWN - The '87 Demo LP
Painkiller and 540 Records have teamed up once again to bring you the other half of the legendary ?Breakdown; Both Demos? series: the legendary ?87 Demo. Breakdown?s original 1987 lineup was only together for a few short months, but in that time they produced one of the most legendary and influential recordings in the history of New York Hardcore. Paving the way for every hard and heavy band to follow, Breakdown?s take on hardcore was balanced with the perfect mix of hip hop?s bounce, the power and dynamics of heavy metal, and an unmistakable New York accent laced across a tough, streetwise sound that could only have come out of 1980?s New York City.

This LP contains the full 9-song ?87 Demo, released here for the first time on vinyl in its entirety, backed with a crushing live set recorded on WNYU radio?s Crucial Chaos during the summer of 1987. Both recordings have been faithfully restored from original sources and sound better than ever. Includes a full color 12?x24? poster insert with extensive notes and anecdotes from members of the NYHC scene.

Split release with 540 Records. Each label has 200 color copies for mailorder.

RADIO-012/013: THE VENOM - 'Arringtons, Crombies, Anarchy Bondage LP + 7"
Formed in Swansea, Wales in 1979 from the ashes of local punk band The Noise, Venom are an unheralded UK classic. Initially taking influence from the first wave of '77 British punk like the Sex Pistols and Clash, it wasn't until after an enforced hiatus resulting from a spot of "football violence" that the band really came into it's own. Lumped in with the expanding Oi! scene, they recorded three self-funded sessions ? which produced the songs on this record ? but their only proper releases were contributions to two compilations: one track on the now impossible to find Swansea punk sampler "Sex, Violence, & The Eternal Truth" 7", and one on Secret Records' "Back On The Streets" 7", the latter a result of Garry Bushell, the "Godfather of Oi", being a fan. They never quite formed a following outside of their hometown, which is a shame, as the songs they left behind are as chaotic, catchy, and well-written as anything to come out of the the early 80's UK punk scene. As with most UK bands in the early 80's, violence became commonplace at their gigs causing the band to call it quits in the summer of 1982. Fortunately, with our friends at Punkhouse Records, we present the complete Venom output, packaged in true Radio Raheem style -- with a custom gatefold LP jacket including a tipped-in booklet choked full of photos, flyers, and the usual bits and bobs.

Also includes a bonus 7" containing "No. 1 Enemy", the only known recording of the pre-Venom band The Noise, backed with "Later On", a rare Venom track predating the LP material. Comes housed in a full-color, UK-style pocket sleeve.

RADIO-015: NO TAG  - Oi Oi Oi 12"
Finally seeing the light of day again for the first time in 33 years, No Tag's "Oi Oi Oi" 12" gets it's first official reissue. The band hailed from Auckland, New Zealand, and consisted of guitarist Andrew Boak, singer Paul Van Wetering, drummer Carl Van Wetering, and bassist Mark Sullivan. Originally released in 1982 on the legendary Propeller Records which was ground zero of the Kiwi punk scene, "Oi Oi Oi" reached #15 on the New Zealand singles chart when it was released. No small feat, for punk in New Zealand hadn't quite reached the higher echelons of mainstream acceptance of that in the UK and US. They followed this release with a live album entitled "Can We Get Away With It?" and supported the Dead Kennedys during their New Zealand tour. Sadly as is the case with many bands of this era, their live shows often attracted a violent element, leading to the band calling it quits in 1986. Radio Raheem is proud to re-release this one back into the wild, taken from the original reels and complete with printed lyrics which were missing from the original.

Also the AGNOSTIC FRONT LP is back in stock along with small re-ups of the first shirt reprint.

NEW ON PAINKILLER:

CONVICT - Barred Life cassette

6-song cassette debut of this northwestern HC band that has members of Bone Sickness in tow. There's almost an early 80s Swedish element to the guitar playing but shoved through the classic USHC blender, and then pumped full of the kind of performance enhancing drugs that get you banned from professional competition. Cover art by Mirko Forseen.

Hear the whole thing here: http://convictwa.bandcamp.com [convictwa.bandcamp.com] ?
Buy the tape here: http://painkillerrecords.bigcartel.com [painkillerrecords.bigcartel.com] ?

Probably of more interest to the Termbo crowd:
Also added a bunch of Hjernespind stuff to the distro that we got a nice price on, so they're way cheaper than buying from overseas -- APA discography LPs and the new Sunbather and Green Mansions records which are Peter from APA's new(er) bands.

RADIO-003: ABUSED - Loud and Clear LP
In 1983, a foursome of self-released seven inch ep's came out of the Lower East Side of Manhattan that heralded a new breed of hardcore punk for New York. Agnostic Front?s 'United Blood', Antidote's 'Thou Shall Not Kill', Cause For Alarm's self-titled release and The Abused's 'Loud and Clear' all defined the sound and aesthetic of New York Hardcore for years to come with their sonic brutality and fervent lyrics. Since then, all of these records have been re-issued barring the latterly mentioned 'Loud and Clear'. That is, until now.

Radio Raheem proudly presents the first fully authorized re-issue of the 'Loud and Clear' ep. Pressed in the LP format, this 21-track collection is rounded out by the band's 1982 demo and never before heard live material. Also included is a 24-page, full color booklet containing photos, lyrics and the band's infamous show flyers drawn by their vocalist Kevin Crowley, and a sticker sheet reproducing the band's original sticker designs. Finally, the most arcane and collectible piece of the early 80's NYHC puzzle is available for both the tight pursed nerd and curious onlooker alike. Rejoice!

RADIO-004: THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY - Crunch On 7"
Radio Raheem presents another slice of long-lost New York Hardcore, The High and The Mighty's 1984 "Crunch On" demo tape, available here for the first time on vinyl. Featuring ex- and future- members of Antidote and the Mighty CO's, The High and The Mighty bust out eight tracks of pure early 80's New York Hardcore that kept fists and boots flying well into the wee hours at A7 and beyond. Comes housed in a 12-page booklet cover, containing many never-before-seen photos and flyers from the golden years of New York Hardcore. Limited to 500 copies.

NEW RELEASES OUT NOW

PKR-048: OUT COLD - A Heated Display LP
The final recordings from Out Cold. These tracks were begun in 2005 shortly after the release of their "Goodbye Cruel World" LP, but after a long and tumultuous ride, were not finished until 2012. After the untimely passing of long-time singer Mark Sheehan, the master tapes fell to the wayside, presumed to be lost. The session was eventually rescued from the abyss by engineer David Minehan, and original frontman Kevin Mertens was brought in to lay down vocals. Half of the session's 28 tracks are represented here -- 14 songs, in a scant 20 minutes -- in the typical no-frills hardcore fashion that Out Cold perfected over their career.

We at Painkiller Records are proud to have helped bring this record to its completion. Produced by the legendary Daniel Rey (Ramones, Misfits, Richard Hell, etc).

PKR-050: DOWN BUT NOT OUT: Caught In The Cycle 7"
Painkiller's 50th release! One of Boston's true cult classics from the last decade, Down But Not Out emerged from the ether as a fully formed hardcore power house in 1999. For a minute it seemed they might take over the world with their perfectly crafted and delivered 4 song demo, and crushing live performances. It wasn't meant to be in the end, but even 14 years later the initial promise of the Caught in the Cycle demo is still obvious, holding up far better than the majority of their peers when you listen now. Here we present it to you, mastered for the first time and pressed to 7" vinyl.

UPCOMING:
PKR-049: BREAKDOWN - Running Scared LP
Compiling Breakdown's 1988-1989 recordings: the 5-track "Running Scared" demo tape, two unreleased cuts from Giant Studio, and their second appearance on WNYU's Crucial Chaos radio show. NYHC at its finest! Split release with 540 Records, available late October/early November.

PKR-051: INMATES - s/t LP
Nine new tracks from our favorite Cleveland miscreants.

PKR-052: WETBRAIN - s/t LP
Debut wax from these new Clevo rippers, 14 tracks of blistering punk out hardcore featuring members of every other Cleveland band you love to hate.

PKR-046: HOUNDS OF HATE - s/t LP
Bradock, PA's premier Straight Edge band return for 2013 with their debut lp, expanding the scope of their previous 7", and continuing their dignified retrofit of darker late 80's NYHC for the darker still 20-teens. Recorded by the band in their own rehearsal compound, these songs weave through the crooked landscape of modern day anomie, dehumanization, and personal betrayal the way In-Effect era Killing Time and Sick Of It All did before them.

PKR-047: VIOLENT REACTION - City Streets LP
One-man army Tom Pimlott arrives direct from Liverpool, England with an lp that splits the difference between early 80's US and UK hardcore with the kind of seamlessness and taste that escapes most bands. Whereas the original X-Claim crew took the British Hardcore of the day and twisted it to fit their post-Minor Threat, townie world view, Violent Reaction takes the X-Claim sound and injects a tasteful dash of '82 style British Hardcore. This might be the best record of this style to come from the UK since the first Voorhees lp.

PKR-050: DOWN BUT NOT OUT - Caught In The Cycle 7"
One of Boston's true cult classics from the last decade, Down But Not Out emerged from the ether fully a formed hardcore power house in 1999. All at Painkiller are proud to note this is our 50th vinyl release.
Please note: this pressing is limited to 117 copies with blank, stamped labels, originally intended for our 10th anniversary show (which was unfortunately canceled.) Full pressing will be available in our next round of releases.

Does anyone remember a few years back when k1ngm1ke/Mike Welfare sold a "mystery Italian hardcore test press" 7" on ebay? It went for about $400 but no one knew what the band was, just that it was something off of the Tot? Alle Prese Coi Dischi label and it had Mayking Records test labels.

I'm trying to find the person who won it, but Mike doesn't remember who the buyer was and there's no trace of the auction on popsike or collectorsfrenzy, or in Mike's ebay feedback. And no, it wasn't scott666.
