wasn't so bad when i got mine pulled either. i don't take any serious pain pills as a general practice, so i had a couple advils the first day and a lot of ice cream. the only thing that really bugged the shit out of me about the experience was eating all that soft food.

i was just going to start a thread about this stuff. more specifically about the yazoo, mamlish, blues document, tacoma, stash, etc... labels, but this'll do.

i like the country blues, ragtime, barrelhouse, or delta blues styles a lot more than the chicago style electric blues, but there are some amazing blues/r+b/boogie records out there.

i recently got the WILLIE EGAN(s) LP on relic that features some pretty solid rockin blues on it. i'd recoommend it highly.

gospel stuff: rev. charlie jackson gets perhaps THE HIGHEST reccomendation from me. my favorite record of the last few years probably. isiah owens is really good too. as is rev. louis overstreet. casequarter is putting out a UTAH SMITH disc soon that will amaze i'm sure. his slide guitar gospel record is fantastic.

you should definitely plug the zine on the goner and garagepunk boards. i'm sure you could move a lot of copies on those. just make sure you post in the right section of the GP forum.....

haha. i dropped off a stack of fe fi fo fums records at passout for them to sell awhile back. must have finally found the peice of paper with my contact info on it. i've introduced myself to memphis mike about 4 times, but he never remembers me! oh well

funny, cause mike (sniper) was talking about erickelric when i was at academy the other day. i think every kid that buys punk records walked outta there with a hans-a-plast LP courtesty-o-him.

yeah, i got them both at the crypt store (museum) in brooklyn.

thee midniters LP is the newest norton records release so you should be able to get it really easily.

the god less america is an older comp, not sure from when. the info on the sleeve is minimal to say the least, but the number on the spine reads "cw-5ICKO". and a pretty awesome western motel sign on the cover. might be harder to track down. i can try to get you one if you're really interested.

(i just found a review of it on amazon. it was actually on crypt)

today i just got:

THEE MIDNITERS - IN THE MIDNITE HOUR LP
its really pretty awesome! even the 60s buffs at garagepunk.com aren't talking about it much, but its totally great if you like thee midnighters at all. the best they've ever sounded.

THE FALCONS - I FOUND A LOVE (falcons story, vol. 2)
never got this LP for some reason. i found a love is one of my favorite soul/doo-wop songs. never, ever gets old. i'm going back for the previous volume tommorrow.

GOD LESS AMERICA COMP
a great comp of country western songs about murder and such. i was on the fence until i saw eddie noacks DELORES on the tracklist. totally great. now if i can just find that death dealers LP...

HANS-A-PLAST - 2
i forgot this band was on bloodstains across germany. its fuckin awesome! i guess people say they sound like kleenex. some say exactly like kleenex. the vocals sound like nico one second, exene the next, and crazed shouting the next. this is the reissue on re-force records. from germany. (thanks mike sniper)

i also heard a tape of the SONICS LIVE IN 1965 that is unbelievable, pummeling music. taken from some live radio showcase they played with a bunch of other bands. they play so fuckin loud, like 3 times as loud as any of the other bands. you can't hear the vocals for shit, but its still amazing.

i've also been listening to the O TOI BEATNIK,  PSYCHEGAELIC, and SWINGING MADAMOISELLES comps.

he's really one of the  nicer guys on the planet in terms of his collecting/distributing practices. if he wins it, we all benefit by hearing the flip. if someone else wins it, no one will ever hear the fuckin thing. its that simple. mark taylor is the 60's garage robin hood.
