Music Shit / Proto Punk mp3 comp
« on: January 31, 2015, 01:35:14 AM »
I made this a separate thread for pure convenience.

I made these for my own amusement, I hope there might be something here you haven't heard already.
The "Rock Hard" part is more of a 70s garage comp but features some proto-punkers as well.

Yay, Marko posted that on FB testerday - awesome track! I know nothing about this, Tombstone Records or Dead Moon for that matter, but here's the 45 on eBay. Quite affordable (yet!) and if you hover you pointer over the backside of the cover, you'll be able to find some more info.

Tim - Giut & Vox
Mitch Fraas - Bass & Vox
Stan Monteverdi - Drums & Vox

You should post your (proto)punk and glam comps David! Think a lot of people here would be into them.

Hm! Maybe I should! I guess I assumed most of the dudes and dudettes on here already have heard them all..

Whaddya say guys? Interested in some rudimentary proto punkers?

Ok here's the third one!

Some honorable mentions to Stormtrooper which I think is the same group responsible for the proto-punk pearl I'm A Mess (it was recorded in 75 but not released till 77). The track featured here is Grind 'N' Heat from 1980 and smells like lager and piss and pubrockin brawls.

The Brats was the embryo of the monster that would later be known as Merciful Fate.

And you can not die happy until you have heard France contribution to NWOBHM - Squealer!

I just have to make a little flic-flac of metal happiness over the song that kicks off this comp: Bollweevil's Rock Solid. CHRIST what a sick sound on the guitars! If only more metal sounded like that.

Hope you dig this serving!

(disclaimer: due to the different volumes of the recorded tracks, I had some problems keeping them at the same level. If you go crazy - I'm sorry. I tried.)

So cool y'all liked it!  :D
I actually have the Mythra track on one of the original comps! The others I had not yet heard, keep more tips comin!

One of my fave tracks (that I did not include on the best-of comp) is Holocaust's stilt-legged metal anthem Heavy Metal Mania - an absolute primitive moster of a track!
I found a clip on YT where the perform it live. Hilarious! The first 2 minutes made my jaw drop to previously unknown depths.
Fuckin metalheads can be so funny.

Hey friendly neigh-bores (hu-huh!)

I usually make 60s garage punk comp (check my blog http://sixtiesgaragepunk.blogspot.se) but since I go crazy if I only listen to garage, I fiddle around with other genres.

So I took a hefty dive into the well of obscure NWOBHM 45s. I got three 14 song comps out of it, after that it got real hard for me to rock out to the songs. I'm a rocker, you see, and therefor problems arise when a the music I'm cutting the mandatory rug to is not rockin' enough for me.
Seems like those metalheads forgot their blues roots and just started making up strange chord processions.
And I am far to autistic to cope with that.

So here it is. The rockinest NWOBHM comp I could muster. And this is a best-of offa the three comps I initially made.
Tell me if you want the original three and I'll post some links for them too.

I hope you can dig it!

Oh and there's not only my mp3 comps, I have also given some old classic comps a much needed make-over.

And don't miss my BFTG-homage - Buried Alive! Five volumes that features the flips to the Back From the Grave classics.

Hey friends!

If you're just starting out to listen to 60s garage punk, or if you are a garage afficianado, you should be able to find some cool new stuff here:

http://sixtiesgaragepunk.blogspot.se

It's a fan-boy project, I really try hard to make focused comps with no filler tracks.
It is mostly crude and/or moody tracks but there sure are some wild n crazy stuff there too!

I hope you check it out and find it a good listen.

Thanks!

I kinda had that coming.

I have no more funny bantering in the pipe since I'm on mental flatlining medication. But I'd love to dance with you again when I get well.

Is this where you hang out now?

Hillo my fellow lowly lives.

I just started a blog dedicated to the much frowned-upon genre of proto-punk. I would like for you all to check it out and give me pointers, criticism and suggestions of all kind on the subject.

Hmm, that's about it!

Have a magical day!
