I simply emailed the filmmakers, made them sort of a formal proposal, and they agreed after a bit of back and forth. Far less complicated than most bands I've booked actually.

And Zappa HATED the Velvet Underground....so eff that jazz.

Actually, I think it was the other way around. In fact, I've always heard that Zappa liked VU, or at least respected them. Perhaps I'm wrong.

That full quote from Lou on Zappa is pretty hilarious:

"He's probably the single most untalented person I've heard in my life. He's a two-bit pretentious academic, and he can't play rock'n'roll, because he's a loser. And that's why he dresses up funny. He's not happy with himself, and I think he's right."

That last part always cracks me up. Then, 30 years later, Lou gave Zappa's induction speak into the RnR Hall of fame. Seems fitting to me.

I'll stand up for some (some) Zappa. A lot of it is pretty intolerable, and I say that as someone who likes a lot of bad and uncool and indefensible music. Zappa is a pretty hard sell to punks and indie rock kids. Very uncool. Sort of like Rush was 10 years ago before they were "discovered" by Relapse/nu-metal/hardcore kids.

If the lyrics get on your nerves, try Hot Rats. It's mostly instrumental except for one Beefheart song. The first few Mothers records are great too as sort of doo-wop pastiche. Freak Out and Absolutely Free are good.

Try some Flo and Eddie while your at it.

Skip Lafayette and come to Bloomington, Indiana instead, we need it more.

I don't really have a problem with this at all. They're basically just offering a manufacturing service, and everyone seems to agree the price is fair.
Besides, don't bands end up paying for their own pressings quite often.

Any distros got/getting this Electric Blood 7''???

Funny, the dude who ran Beehive Rebellion who put out the Electric Easter CD lives here in Bloomington, good friend. He also put out a great Sex Clark Five CD. Weird little label.

Somebody bring Landlocked some of these!
279
Yeah, we got maybe 2 left I think.

Our main shipment of these unexpectedly showed up today. So...selling live (very low #'s too!).

To make my life easier, if you want one of these from us, order via discogs:

I'm still pissed at this band for not playing I Can Read two years ago at Gonerfest despite massive audience demand. Missed their chance at rock and roll immortality.

We should have plenty of the new one in on Monday, they en route. Just got a couple in today (the back-ups, which arrived first of course). They're $5.

As for the debut 7'', if anyone wants one: $8 postage paid, paypal to info@landlockedmusic.com or call the shop during biz hours and we'll take your card info. (812) 339-2574.

Best band in Bloomington right now, hands down.
283
Wow...Hammond, Indiana. Haven't heard of a band playing there since the Jackson 5 were first starting out.

How was it? Is there some sort of scene there? Just curious.
284
We should have some in tomorrow (Friday) hopefully. Or Monday.

Also, we have their debut Magnetic South 7'' too if anyone needs that one. Raw as hell but great. And also their full-length on cassette. For sale from us on discogs if interested. Or call/email Landlocked Music.

Agreed. Their best yet I think. Though I think that last Moon Duo is even better.
