Is this magazine as good or better than King? If so, I will check it.

Due to your mass protest, The International Society of Punk Record Nurds has decided to suspend all prices on KBD 45's. We've come up with a "library" plan where each person gets each record for a month at a time, then sends them out (shipping on us) to the next person on the list. Don't worry about scratching them and shit, because these are no longer collectibles. Please pass this bulletin on.

You made a difference!

Sincerely,

Frank Nerville, IV

ps- my guess would be that they are a good investment, though. Punk isn't going away. It's huge, it's established, it's in the mall. There will always be people wanting to go back to the roots and find the earliest, rarest stuff. It's like collecting old blues 78's; the blues probably isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

What I do wonder is wether or not shit like The Black Lips or even 90's garage punk stuff (Rip Off, etc) will still be worth money years from now...

I wonder.  Are these things at their peak value, or are they going to keep going up?  At Ryan's prices, are you bullish or bearish on them?

A few years ago, they were saying "the KBD craze is a fad, and these records will go back down to being $40 a pop". So far, this has not really seemed to be the case.

One thing is for sure: they aren't making any more of them. However many copies of "Hotwire My Heart" or The Teenage PH'ds exist now are how many (or less) will be around in ten years.

You should call the guy who does "Mad Money" and bring this one up.

I tend to agree with SSR. People who buy these aren't buying them to tape them for their friends in some little MRR classified ad hippie punk trading circle. The music is widely available for free. They are buying them strictly as collectibles.

I could see bitching about this stuff years ago, prior to the internet, when people knew about bands like Crime but couldn't track any of the songs down (like me). In 2006, when you can get any of this shit in 30 seconds, it's a moot point. Let them stand as collectibles. Nobody is preventing the music from get out to "the people", it's just that there are only 200 or so copies and not every fag on the planet can own one.

Btw, for sale: Last Sons of Krypton-"Atom Bomb" 45. Unplayed. Will autograph. $300 OBO.

The Pettibon art on that Black Flag tour flyer is bitchin'. The price, not so much.

I bought "Bad Music For Bad People" when I was a kid. I look behind me at the counter while I'm paying, and it was a (whispers) black dood!

Went to some bars, saw some horrible cover bands, and almost got KILT on the drunken car ride home. Never again!

My friend Jackie used to live on the third floor of this huge apartment complex. Every morning we would still be up drunk at 6am when a girl from across the complex would be getting up for work. We would yell "lesbian", but we would have our backs turned to her so she didn't know what was going on. This went on for weeks until she finally had the guts to look up and say something to us. She goes "I'm not a lesbian...I'm a CHRISTIAN!"

We go

"whatever, lesbian!"

and never laughed so hard again.

I've always wondered this: do low-grade, van-level touring punk/rock bands actually get laid alot? Or is that just a myth? Seems like everytime I encounter a touring band crashing at somebody's house, they stink like shit and nobody really cares about them. Save for the most disgusting, bottom of the barrel punk groupie hanger ons. And even then only the "cute one" gets any attention.

Just curious.

I've played shows IN TOWN with fuckers who were so dirty/unkempt that they looked like they had been on tour for months when we finally got on stage. Imagine showing up hours early to hit on girls...hanging out in a Florida parking lot...drinking beer for hours...you get the gist. Being in a band is drrty.
