One of the things I like about the internet right now is finding vedicardi's sarcastic youtube comments on my friends' bands.
"oh is this chain punk"
"oh wow new wave"
Combined with his profile pic of a bored-looking comic book girl.

Puffy Areolas (original Siltbreeze lineup with Krauty and Dusty)

As has been said, this is the real breaking news. Thought this was an internet hoax. Krauty/Dusty lineup is the REAL DEAL.

Fuuuckkkk!

This is great, it's like if Destruction Unit did the good drugs instead of the boring ones.

Music Shit / Re: Best 2018 releases

Patois Counselors and Lavender Flu are definitely my favorite records from the past few months. Sooo good.

"Target not a Comrade" from the PC LP is such a hit.

LF keeps making me tear up.

As much as I like the Counter Intuits records they are another kind of beast live - easily the heaviest of the Ron House bands.  Go see them if you ever get a chance.

Yeah I was actually going to ask you guys (the board?) about their live act. Being from California I doubt I?ll see them live but based on the strength of the songwriting alone I can only imagine a live presence. Do they play with a fair bit of volume? Louder the better.

They are an amazing live band. Here is a show I taped a little over two years ago now. You can hear for yourself. As an added bonus you get the Watery Love and Jowe Head sets from the same night: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mytn0y3f2rxxdxc/Live%20%40%20Ortlieb%27s%20in%20Phildaelphia%2C%20PA%20March%2031%2C%202016%20-%20mp3%27s.zip?dl=0

EDIT: if anyone cares enough to download, just give me a heads up if the link is working or not, please. Thanks.

It works, thanks!

Only on Termbo somebody would wanna seriously discuss a meme.

Tonight I'm going deep into Proper Release by the Patois Counselors. Such a great record. Smart & fun, the kind of fun where you read the lyrics and chuckle but also get a bit depressed because they mock your internet addiction and stuff.

Richard Papiercuts' "IF", again, lots.  Serious legs, massive sound, smart songs.  Anxious to hear what's next.

I'm really excited about the next record, whenever it's gonna come out. The best thing about it is I have absolutely no idea of what it's gonna sound like.

Right now I'm listening to the latest Lié LP, Hounds. I just wish it had a clearer sound (or is it that I still haven't bought a good turntable?) and a lyric sheet. It's dramatic and full of adrenalin. It's really weird, but something about it reminds me of shit I was into in the early 2000s, that kind of dark, flamboyant, gothy post punk that was on the emo end of the Lost Sounds spectrum, if you get what I mean. Black Cat Music maybe? I just know I'm gonna get shit for this but there you have it.

Secondly, I got the reissue of Ariel Kalma's Osmose (originally out in '78). It's one of the few "ambient" records that really blew my mind by blending birdsongs from the Papua New Guinea region and minimalist compositions on sax, flute, synths and drum machines. Just a beautiful record to pass out to or just have a quiet moment to yourself.

I love Ariel Kalma. I just have the 2xLP collection of his that RVNG Intl. put out, but it doesn't look like anything from Osmose is on there. Thanks for the heads up about this.

On the same label you can also find a cool box set, I'm not sure what's in it but people in the know say it's good. By the way, if he comes somewhere in your area go see him. He still kills live. I saw him at this festival and he was really good. His own show was incredible, but he also jammed with Riccardo Sinigaglia (from Futuro Antico) the day after and killed. There's video evidence here.

About the Lavender Flu LP. I was in a shitty mood this morning, kind of hungover, nervous and sad. When I got to work I put it on the Spotify and it hit me like a fucking train, almost teared up at my desk on a couple of tunes. I ordered it immediately because I just felt a deep connection with it. Granted, I'm not in the best shape I've been, but a record that does that will continue to fuck you up in time. I also went back to Heavy Air and found stuff I hadn't found before. I see a bright future for the Flu.

My three latest purchases were all from Milan-based psychedelic/experimental label Black Sweat.

The first would be Spirit Rejoin by the italian freak-jazz-psych-afrobeat combo Al Doum & the Faryds. This is probably their best record, as they really found the sweet spot between some sort of afro-funk, spiritual jazz, and freaky weird soundscapes reminiscent of 1970's Weird Italy (Aktuala and such). Really out there, uplifting drug music for hippies.

Finally, I eventually pulled the trigger on DSR Lines double LP Spoel. I thought about it for so long because I didn't feel like I would really be interested in a double album of just modular synth improvisations, but I realized I'd been going back to the Bandcamp regularly for a year or so, and surrendered to the fact that these bleep-bloop sounds have something magical to them.

I'm also kinda obsessed with the Music From Memory compilation Outro Tempo: Electronic and Contemporary Music from Brazil 1978-1992: minimal electronic songs that have a lo-fi, off-kilter quality to them and, I don't know, feel uplifting in some weird way.

Jocko always bringin the goods

Aww.

Annoyed my neighbors with the new Lié while hanging the laundry to dry today. Sounded fierce. I'm gonna spin it again when I'm not out on the balcony handling underpants and socks and t-shirts that somehow still smell bad.

Samaritan Quell's LP on Monofonus Press reminds me of what my friends SabaSaba and Everest Magma are doing here in Italy, bending ritualistic sounds from a different time and place and nailing them to a contemporary, Western industrial framework. 's good.

Woke up this morning and found out I've drunk-bought it online last night. I'm proud of my decision-making under the influence. Great record!

Music Shit / Re: LowLife Sydney
« on: May 22, 2018, 12:02:07 PM »
I spent a couple nights with a band from Australia and asked them if they thought Low Life were ever gonna tour Europe and they said "they usually can't manage to get it together to play Sydney" (in a joking way, not mean at all if somebody's getting offended). Not surprised this record is taking so long! Sure it'll be worth it though.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Can terrorism be morally justified?
« on: May 13, 2018, 05:15:28 AM »
Domestic terrorism lends itself to being co-opted and used by the secret service and the government to influence the public opinion and the political outcome can be horrible. The Years of Lead were very bad for Italian politics, we're still suffering the consequences (also some of the right-wing terrorists from that era are still in positions of power right now).
